Political Prisoner Leslie Bory May Face Another Year of Detention Without Bail

Shoot somebody, knife somebody, sell off vital RCMP secrets and you can walk free on bail. In a non-violent manner express unpopular political views or criticize privileged minorities and you won’t get bail. Political prisoner Leslie Bory has been held without bail, since February 14, at the Maplehurst Detention Centre in Milton for “uttering threats”on a podcast February 11. Mr. Bory writes from prison: “When I was showing signs of physical injuries, I was made to wait in a provincial court holding cell, instead of appearing in Superior Court in person that day. When we rolled into the provincial court garage early in the morning before Court began,  the guards were heard saying that “Bory’s case was remanded” BEFORE any court official made that decision. I was to appear in Court by video on November 23, but no one came to get me and I heard from a third party that  the next date to appear for trial scheduling would be in September of 2024 and the next date for a trial will be, at the earliest, January of 2025!. My lawyer has not spoken to me directly to tell me anything for two months despite there being a judicial pre-trial where I heard that information like what they want to do to me was discussed. When my lawyer schedules lawyer calls on a special phone, he doesn’t answer the calls.”

Yet, Mr. Bory remains positive: “So far, I have done what a good politician should do and I told the truth and acted to raise awareness. I had some spectacular radio broadcasts and I made some very good videos. I have stood up to the enemiesd of our people and I have written five booklets so far. I have enlightened hundreds of guys in jail as they tell one another what I have told them.”

Political Prisoner Leslie Bory Was Severely Beaten in Prison Several Weeks Ago

Political Prisoner Leslie Bory Was Severely Beaten in Prison Several Weeks Ago
CAFE has just been informed that political prisoner Leslie Bory, who faces three counts of harassment because of a February  Internet podcast and may soon face charges under Sec. 318 (wilful promotion of genocide) and 319 (wilful promotion of hate against a privileged group) was severely beaten, in late September, at Maplehurt Correctional Complex in Milton, Ontario. Mr. Bory has no criminal record but Ontario’s highly politicized judicial system has refused him bail. Murderers and violent perpetrators of assault and use of dangerous weapons are out walking the streets on bail, but populist political dissidents languish in jail.

Mr. Bory writes: “I have now been injured in prison which, I believe, is another form of minority violence used by the real dictators of Canada who write our laws to dissuade others from speaking out. I have a broken nose, two black eyes, a gash on my forehead that needed stitches. I have a gash on the back of my head and cuts on the left side of my head and bumps all over my head and two broken ribs and scrapes on my knee and hand.” Apparently, Mr. Bory was assaulted in the prison exercise yard by another inmate, identity unknown. The prison authorities are investigating. A person knowledgeable about the prison states that there must be video of the assault. Mr. Bory’s lawyer was informed.

“I was told that I would be charged with ‘advocating genocide’ which carries a five year sentence” for warning about a certain minority that, Mr. Bory believes, have tried to commit genocide.

CAFE sent our recent newsletters to Mr. Bory. The envelope was returned with a non-explanatory letter that said: “We are sure that you can appreciate our need to ensure that illicit drugs and other contraband/unauthorized items are not introduced into the institution.” Then, a long list of examples followed. Highlighted in pink magic marker was “newspaper clippings.” But we sent Mr. Bory the Free Speech Monitor and the Canadian Immigration Hotline, not newspaper clippings. Oh, well, let’s fight to protect democracy in the Ukraine, while freedoms are trampled here in Canada

Keeping the Voters Dumb: Brantford Establishment Excludes Smaller Parties for “All Candidates” Debate

Keeping the Voters Dumb: Brantford Establishment Excludes Smaller Parties for “All Candidates” Debate

Excluded candidates cry foul

By Michael-Allan Marion, Brantford Expositor

Some registered provincial election candidates in Brantford-Brant riding are objecting to being excluded from an all-candidates meeting.

A televised debate Monday night organized by the Chamber of Commerce Brantford-Brant and Rogers TV featured Progressive Conservative candidate Will Bouma, Ken Burns of the Green Party, New Democrat Alex Felsky, Libertarian Rob Ferguson and Liberal Ruby Toor.

Shortly before the two-hour debate was to begin at 7 p.m., other candidates — independent Dave Wrobel, John Turmel of the Pauper Party and Leslie Bory of the Canadians’ Choice Party — tried to get into the Rogers building on Harris Avenue but were locked out and told they could not participate. Each had registered as a candidate with the Elections Ontario Brantford-Brant returning office.

Also registered as a candidate is Nicholas Archer of the None of the Above Party.

Wrobel, who is also registered as a Brantford mayoral candidate in the Oct. 22 municipal election, and Turmel, a perennial election candidate, waited for some time outside the door to the building. Wrobel raised on his Facebook page his objections to candidates being excluded.

Chamber of Commerce CEO Charlene Nicholson said that, according to the organization’s rules, the only candidates to be allowed into the debate were those in political parties that have candidates running in a majority of the province’s 127 ridings in the June 7 provincial election.

In an interview, Wrobel disputed the chamber’s rules.

“It’s a clear act of discrimination,” he said.

He pointed out that Burns has not yet filed his papers to be an official candidate but was allowed to be part of the debate. The deadline for candidates to register is 2 p.m. Thursday.

“There is no inclusiveness,” said Wrobel. “The minute you do that you diminish the democratic process.”

Wrobel also criticized the candidates who took part in the debate for not raising objections about others being excluded.

Ferguson raised the issue briefly in his opening address. But the others said nothing.

“It’s wrong for those politicians to show no inclusiveness and let that happen,” said Wrobel.

Although he is registered as a mayoral candidate, Wrobel said he is still making up his mind about seeking the municipality’s top political job.
