Political Prisoner Dr. James Sears Released from Prison on Parole

TORONTO, October 1, 2021. The six protests organized by the Canadian Association for Free Expression outside the South Toronto Detention Centre played a definite role in political prisoner Dr. James Sears’ release on early parole this morning. “Believe me, those protests helped you get early parole,” a guard had told Dr. Sears.

Dr. Sears emerged bearded and very thin, but cheerful, after serving four months of a 12 months sentence (the maximum) for writing satire of Jews and radical feminists, contrary to Canada’s notorious “hate law” (Sec. 319 of the Criminal Code).

He told supporters who hugged him and gave him a bouquet of flowers that he had gotten on well with fellow prisoners and most of the guards. The prison food was, he said, “garbage better than hospital food, but not as good as army food.”
“Freedom of speech is dying in Canada and will die because too many people just don’t care. People may have to leave this country for freedom.”
A new generation of free speech activists will have to join the fight, he explained.
“People should not be afraid of prison,” he told his supporters. I’m 58 years old and survived,” he said. In prison, he wrote 300 pages of several books, including a fictitious prison romance, based on reality, he grinned, between a political prisoner and a female guard.

Several bad things happened to him in prison. “I was kept for 27 days in isolation. That was illegal. The maximum is 15.” Even worse, prison authorities never gave him the legal papers he needed to argue his appeal. They ended up in his property bag.

He said, as part of his probation, a propaganda course on anti-social behaviour. He looks forward to this as he hopes to convert the teachers.
“I was a first time offender,” he said, “but I was sentenced to a year in prison — the maximum! One of my cellmates, who wished me the best of luck as I left, had been sentenced to nine and a half weeks. He’d stabbed a man, stolen a truck and had been found with a quantity of fentanyl.” Just as in the old Soviet Union, common criminals are seen by the state as a sympathetic class. On the other hand, political dissidents receive the harshest treatment of the law. “Hate speech,” he said, “is considered the worst of the worst.”

It was a warm sunny Autumn morning: “I have been released from one prison into a COVID prison,” he said to applause from the free speech supporters.

He promised that he’d be writing about “the toxic culture” among the prison guards.

FORT MCMURRAY, October 12, 2021.Ex-political prisoner Brad Love appeared briefly in provincial court this morning, When the judge, specially brought in to try this case as were the two Crowns, heard that the court appointed lawyer assigned to question civilian witnesses had met with Mr. Love for the first time before Court , he said: “Mr. Love has complied with everything.’ The lawyer had failed to properly prepare.
The judge adjourned the trial until tomorrow to give Mr. Love time to consult with the Court-appointed lawyer Susan Bottern. Mr. Love had strongly opposed the appointment some months ago Mr. Love is known for his detailed preparation and aggressive questioning. He can question the police, but the civilian witnesses are deemed too fragile to face the accused. “There are 530 pages of disclosure,” Mr. Love fumed. “Fifteen minutes to prepare for a three day trial is a joke,” he added. The judge agreed. Susan Bottern explained that she did not have Mr. Love’s phone number.
“The police and the Crown certainly did,” the accused, who has been the victim of an ongoing campaign by the RCMP, told the Court.

On October 23, 2020, officers from the local detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrested former political prisoner and longtime political activist Brad Love at his townhouse. He was taken to police headquarters and charged with 10 counts of “mischief under $5,000.” He was interrogated and then released on his own recognisance. Two weeks before, his home had been raided by six RCMP officers (masked, of course) with a warrant looking for glue, “Keep Canada White” posters and copies of the Canadian Immigration Hotline, published by the Canada First Immigration Committee, and which has been in publication for over 30 years. Mr. Love intends to ask for the full name of the second Crown who would give her name only as Susan.”So much for an open Court,” Mr. Love observed.

The disclosure reveals that none of the witnesses can identify Mr. Love as the man who posted the material critical of immigration. Several, though, said they felt “afraid” because they live in a “multicultural” neighbourhood. “Their feelings are irrelevant,” Mr. Love argues.

A sign of the times moment occurred before the trial. Mr. Love stopped in to the McDonald’s near the Court for a coffee. He was not wearing a mask. He bought his coffee and sat down at a table to drink it. An obvious foreign counter girl came over and demanded his vaccine passport. “I don’t have one,” he said. She ordered him to leave. He stayed for a while before heading off to Court.

Free Speech Supporters Rally & Wish Political Prisoner Dr. James Sears “Happy Thanksgiving”

TORONTO. October 7, 2021. Today supporters of the Canadian Association for Free Expression held its fifth protest outside the Toronto South Detention Centre in support of political prisoner Dr. James Sears. Our special purpose was to wish Dr. Sears “Happy Thanksgiving.”
The day had a joyous spirit. The day had been foggy and dark earlier but the skies brightened as we began our rally. We were joined by fellow political prisoner 80-year old Leroy St. Germaine, Dr. Sears’ co-accused, who served his one year sentence under house arrest. Almost every 18-wheeler that passed by gave us a long blast of support on their powerful horns. A woman pulled over and said: “I support you. You people deserve some refreshment.” She brought out a number of bottles of water and passed one to each of our group.

As of today, Dr. Sears has been in jail for almost four months. HOWEVER, we may have some good news shortly. We must keep up the pressure and our public witness

* In January, 2019, Dr. Sears, Editor, and Leroy St. Germaine, Publisher of the satirical tabloid YOUR WARD NEWS were convicted on two counts of “wilfully promoting hate” against privileged groups (Jews & Women) in contravention of Canada’s notorious “hate law” – Sec. 319 of the Criminal Code. Each was sentenced to the maximum — unprecedented for a first time offender — of a year in jail. As Leroy is of Metis heritage, he was allowed to serve his sentence at home,

* In November, 2020, under protest, Dr. Sears and Leroy St. Germaine argued their appeal by Zoom.

* On June 14, the appeal was denied and the sentences upheld. Dr. Sears was immediately ordered to prison and denied even a few hours to say goodbye to his wife and young son.

* Dr. Sears’ Application for Leave to Appeal his conviction and sentence was turned down by an Ontario judge on July 16, but Dr. Sears was NOT informed and had to learn of the decision from a friend on the outside on July 29!

* Dr. Sears is virtually incommunicado. He has contacted his wife or supporters only eight six in three weeks and then only for extremely brief conversations!.
* Many people across Canada and the world have sent Dr. Sears postcards and letters of support. After six weeks behind bars, as of July 29, he had received NONE of these letters. Maybe the COVID ate them. Finally, because of our protests, as of August 3, Dr. Sears was finally receiving his mail. Those letters are so important. Thus far, he has received letters from Australia, Italy, Britain. Romania, the United States and, of course, from across the Dominion of Canada.

* Dr, Sears complained to the prison authorities of sciatic pain but was breezily told there was only one physiotherapist to deal with the large prison population!

* On August 14, I had a brief conversation on the phone with Dr. Sears. He is really grateful for your letters and support. He is encouraged and delighted by our protests. He is a “celebrity” in prison and rightly so.
* On August 10 and August 23 I dropped some money off at the prison for Dr. Sears’ canteen and shall leave some more later this week. I welcome your contributions. Also, a donor generously sent him a substantial money order,
* Amnesty International defines a “prisoner of conscience” or political prisoner as a person punished solely for the non-violent expression of their political, religious or cultural views. Both Dr. James Sears and Leroy St. Germaine are political prisoners — jailed because they criticized politically powerful minority groups. Free speech activist Raychyl Whyte has been lobbying Amnesty to adopt Dr. Sears as a “prisoner of conscience”

* A lasting disgrace is that only one mainstream media writer has criticized this attack on freedom of the press, which they regularly condemn if it occurs in Hong Kong or the Philippines.
* As a measure of how deranged the Ontario Justice system is the day before, Umaar Zameer, a fellow inmate at the South Toronto Detention Centre was granted bail. He’s charged with first degree murder allegedly having deliberately run over Const. Jeffrey Northrup in Toronto’s City Hall parking lot, July 2. Const. Northrup was investigating a robbery and stabbing. Typical of our secretive court system, the presiding judge placed details of the bail hearing under a publication ban. On the other hand, political prisoner Dr. James Sears was denied bail, June 14, to pursue his appeal. Clearly. satirizing privileged groups is taken more seriously by the judicial system than allegedly killing a police officer in the line of duty. “Zameer’s lawyer, Nader Hasan, told Global News in a statement on Wednesday that ‘Mr. Zameer’s family is very pleased with the outcome of today’s hearing. They welcome him home.”‘(Global News, September 22, 2021) Dr. Sears’ wife and young son would also be happy to welcome him home!

The Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has issued an official statement on vaccine mandates, adding to an epidemic of intrusive, unconstitutional government requirements that gnaw away at Canadians’ civil liberties and medical autonomy.

And — shockingly, but not surprisingly — their position is not supportive of genuine human rights…

While repeatedly (and laughably) claiming that receiving the jab is “voluntary,” the OHRC makes the stunning pronouncement that “a person who chooses not to be vaccinated based on personal preference does not have the right to accommodation under the Code.”

Translated: Your basic human rights are cancelled if you fail to comply with the government’s demand that you get vaccinated.

This is absolute madness. There’s just no other way to put it.

That’s why we’re asking you to send a strong message to the OHRC (CC’ed to Ontario’s MPPs, AG and PM), expressing your outrage that pandemic politics has taken priority over actual human rights — a blatant contradiction of the organization’s supposed purpose for existing at all.

Human rights do NOT come with an asterisk.

This should not be a controversial statement, especially from the perspective of a government institution whose primary purpose is to ensure that Ontario’s Human Rights Code is upheld and administered faithfully — but, has has often been the case in Ontario and other provinces across Canada, these “Human Rights” Commissions have done more to defend radical leftist orthodoxy than the rights of Canadians.

To see this practice in action, look no further than the OHRC’s recent statement of support for intrusive, unconstitutional vaccine mandates, which are already wreaking havoc on countless people in our province and beyond.

The OHRC recently published a Policy Statement confirming its unabashed support for vaccine mandates, singing the praises of the requirements issued by Ontario’s provincial government by declaring that, yes, “[v]accination requirements [are] generally permissible.”

YOU CAN READ THE OHRC’S FULL POLICY STATEMENT HERE

Moreover, the statement goes on to explain how such mandates are, by the OHRC’s estimation, permissible under the Ontario Human Rights Code so long as there are “protections” in place for those who are “unable” to receive the Covid-19 vaccine for reasons specifically alluded to in said Code.

But then, the OHRC goes on to conclude its statement by completely contradicting itself, effectively CANCELLING your Code-protected rights should you opt against getting vaccinated!

In doing so, any Ontarian’s failure to comply with the mandate would basically equate to a surrender of their most basic human rights…all with the full backing of the Ontario HUMAN RIGHTS Commission — the very government institution whose primary responsibility is to protect human rights in our province, not tear them down!

It should go without saying that Ontarians should be free to choose for themselves whether or not to get vaccinated for Covid-19, without such infringement against their rights and threats of discrimination for not complying plaguing their decision process.

But, as it seems, the OHRC holds government institutions with blatantly political priorities in higher esteem than it does the actual people it is responsible for protecting.

It’s time to let them know that their dereliction of duty and utter disregard for human rights in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak is unacceptable, and that the people of Ontario will not stand idly by while their freedoms continue to be trampled on by the government.

Please take a few minutes to email the Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) today, and express your disillusionment at their stunning betrayal of their own mission to protect human rights here in Ontario.

I attended the weekly END THE LOCKDOWN rally in Brantford. Actually, there are a couple of freedom fighters out there EVERY day.

Sad — a man drove by and told us he’d lost his job at Hydro because he wouldn’t take the forced vaxx. Plenty of supportive honks from passing motorists and a few “fuck you’s.”
