“Local anti-racism network coordinates municipal response as
controversial `nationalist’ group plans event in Hamilton in
August. Mayor Andrea Horwath says she will be ensuring the
city ‘remains vigilant and clear that events spreading messages of
hate and intolerance are not welcome’ in city facilities or public
spaces. A controversial anti-immigration group is planning to
host a national conference in the Hamilton area this summer —
prompting local anti-racism organizations to work on a
“collaborative strategy” to respond.
The Dominion Society of Canada announced in May that it
would be hosting its first national conference, known as
“DomCon,” in the Hamilton area on Aug. 29. The group publicly
calls for the “remigration” — or mass deportation — of anyone
not descended from Anglo or French settlers of Canada. The
society’s website blames “mass immigration” for low wages, a
lack of jobs and housing, as well as overstretched healthcare and
education systems.
On its website, the Dominion Society explicitly bases its
platform on the “Great Replacement” theory, stating that “native
born Canadians are being replaced in our own domestic
workforce” and calling for an “11step plan” to enforce “the
return of foreigners to their respective homelands.” The group’s
literature targets specific demographics, writing that “Canada is
not getting more `diverse,’ it’s getting more Indian.” The
Canadian Anti-Hate Network has characterized the
organization as the political wing of a broader white nationalist
movement. …
Lyndon George, executive director of the Hamilton Anti-
Racism Resource Centre (HARRC), [who is Black] told The
Spectator his team learned of the event in late May, spurring a
meeting with leaders from the Hamilton Centre for Civic
Inclusion and the Social Planning and Research Council of
Hamilton to create a “collaborative strategy.”
George said part of that strategy includes local organizations
working with the city and nearby municipalities to ensure they
understand “signs of hate,” and to provide information to
restaurants and venues on how the group “may be operating and
disguising their bookings.”
George also called on area politicians and economic development
departments to make it clear that Hamilton and the surrounding
regions are “not a welcoming environment for” anti-immigration
and White nationalist groups. “This is not a group that you want
to welcome here,” said George. “But this is not something that
the community can take on alone.” (Hamilton Spectator, June
13, 2026) Notice that the Hamilton Centre for Civic inclusion
is plotting to find ways to exclude the Dominion Society. You
can’t make this stuff up!
