Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) told Breitbart News on Saturday that mask mandates — ostensibly issued for public health purposes — “are all about submission,” offering his remarks in an interview with Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow at Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit in West Palm Beach, FL.

Partial transcript below:

MARLOW: You have a terrific speech … and you started with something that I wasn’t anticipating, but I absolutely loved, and that’s some actual science about the mask mandates. You broke it down in a very clear way. Talk to us about it. 

PAUL: It’d be one thing if we were told you have to give up your liberty, you have to give up your freedom, we’re going to save your life. But what if you have to give up all your freedoms and they’re wrong on the science? 

Every one of the mandates — and you look in country after country, state after state — you look at when the mask mandates went in — the incidents went up exponentially after the mandates. Restaurants, nobody can eat in a restaurant, there’s no science behind any of that.

Middle seat missing on the airplane, you really think you’re like 12 inches from the other guy instead of six inches, it really makes a difference?  None of it really makes any sense, and there’s no epidemiological evidence. You know, it’s like, ‘Wash your hands, stand six feet apart.’

There’s no evidence that that slowed down the [spread]. … The trajectory of the virus hasn’t been altered at all by any of these things. I think the vaccine will, and this is why I really despise people like the CNN Doctor [Sanjay] Gupta, who I think is committing television malpractice by saying,  ‘Oh, your mask is a much better thing than the vaccine.’ Well, no, it isn’t. The masks aren’t working at all. The thing’s going through the roof and people are dying. Why would you want to discourage someone from taking a vaccine and say,  ‘Oh wear the mask.’?

And the masks are different, too. The N95 mask actually does work to a certain extent, if worn properly and used [with] sterile technique. In the hospital, our doctors — I have a brother and sister who are doctors, they wear the N95 mask, and it’s kept them from getting infected — but there’s no value to the cloth mask, at all. 

It’s like wearing your underwear. You might as well cut your underwear up and wear your underwear as protection. It doesn’t work. 

MARLOW: That’s why I call it a face diaper. So you’ve got a public who has accepted this, though, by and large, because we’ve been told by everyone we have to accept it. Have we lost track of the Constitution? Have we forgotten about the Constitution?

PAUL: Well, that’s why I like this youth group here. What are they asked to give up? They’re being asked to give up their graduation from high school, their graduation from college, their wedding, and if we’re not careful, it’s gonna be their five-year wedding anniversary or their ten-year anniversary. We’re still gonna be wearing masks.

Paul highlighted Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dr. Anthony Fauci’s ongoing advocacy for mask-wearing as a protective measure for public health.

“If Fauci has his way, you’ll never give up on the mask,” warned Paul. “It’s all about submission. They want you to submit to their will, whether there’s any science. In fact, like on schools, I’ve been telling Fauci for six months, the evidence is that if you open schools, you will not get a surge. The whole world accepts it, except for Dr. Fauci. He finally accepted it last week, six months after I started showing him the evidence.”

Last week, CNN published an article entitled, “Why a Covid-19 vaccine doesn’t mean that you can stop wearing a mask.” CNN’s top medical reporter, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, described the coronavirus as “especially deadly” while advising people to “double the usual six feet [of distancing] to 12 feet” in gyms due to “heavy breathing.”

Democrats and the broader left regularly advocate for continuation and expansion of assorted and arbitrary lockdowns and shutdowns against businesses, religious organizations, and particular political demonstrations.

Hello George,

The purpose of this letter is to address our phone conversation which took place on November 6, 2020.

Unfortunately, yes it has taken me over a month to be able to address this matter; as I am very busy with working at 2 concurrent jobs + have had numerous other important responsibilities and deadlines to meet.

This is regarding 2 of your arrogant, rude young female employees demanding that I leave for daring to briefly breathe through my nostrils without obstruction while engaging in cardiovascular exercise at your facility; a practice which is expressly permitted according to the City of Hamilton by-law: “A person who is actively engaged in an athletic or fitness activity” https://www.hamilton.ca/coronavirus/face-coverings-and-masks-by-law, and what you told me on November 6, 2020 over the phone. You stated that Hamilton Public Health supplied your business with a letter which advised that ‘all people should be masked at all times inside all businesses’. (As an aside: It would certainly be interesting to see how that advisory would be applied at restaurants).

I had since been in direct phone contact with Hamilton Public Health regarding the letter which you told me had been issued. The employee at Hamilton Public Health read the letter to me. She stated that the ‘all people be masked at all times inside all businesses’ portion was a recommendation… not a requirement. That is a significant distinction, George.

Furthermore, please refer to the enclosed World Health Organization (WHO) advisory regarding face coverings; notably, the highlighted portion.

You can also freely access many other sources of similar health warnings.

You had additionally told me during our phone conversation that although you agreed with me about the risks involved with mask-wearing during physical activity, you wanted to “keep your business open” and “keep your staff in their jobs”. So you have imposed this draconian ‘masking at ALL times’ as the absolute rule within your facility; irrespective of the clearly-delineated health risks by empirical sources (including the WHO, as per the enclosed), which demonstrates that the health of your members is of no consequence to you. And no, the maintaining of good health is about far more than merely avoiding Covid-19; which has a 99.3% recovery rate.

Compared to Covid-19, your members are far more likely to experience considerable damage to their health while being deprived of oxygen, repeatedly inhaling their own carbon dioxide, and the breath vapours + bacteria forming on their face covering during physical activity; especially during cardiovascular exercise. I felt unwell with a very hoarse throat, dizziness and lightheadedness for days after trying to adhere to the vicious, relentless demands of your staff that my mouth & nose be completely covered 100% of the time no matter what while working out at your facility on November 5, 2020. But evidently, a member’s (or perhaps just ‘my’) physical suffering is of no consequence to you or the staff working at your facility that evening.

I have been a member of your gym for more than 3 years. The snotty, condescending attitude of some of your employees and the increasingly reduced, inconvenient hours have been discouraging. But the wide variety of equipment there to exercise all muscle groups has been the main motivation for continuing my membership, and set it apart from other gyms. That said however, it certainly seems that your business model places a far greater priority upon virtue-signalling authoritarianism rather than reducing obvious health risks of your members & staff alike; or even adhering to the clearly stated by-law outlined by the City of Hamilton or applying sensible, balanced interpretation of the recommendations (not requirements) you received from Hamilton Public Health.

Following your demonstrated pattern of prioritization, it is predicted that you will soon be imposing a requirement of proof of Covid vaccination from all your members in order for them to be permitted to keep utilizing your facility.

As an FYI: The Pfizer Covid vaccine ingredients have been disclosed publicly today. They are posted on the Health Canada website. I have read about each of the ingredients. One is a polyvinyl acetal resin (normally used in the plastics industry), and is patented by MONSANTO… the GMO pesticide company. If that weren’t bad enough: One of the other ingredients is potassium chloride…. which is one of the active ingredients in LETHAL INJECTIONS to STOP THE HEART. No need to take ‘my’ word about this. Look it up.

Incidentally, my ex-husband was an MD. He turned against most mainstream medicine after learning first hand of the serious hazards from vaccines and many pharmaceutical drugs.

Furthermore, I can count myself among the segment of the population which is knowingly vaccine-damaged. Vaccines have always caused me a variety of serious reactions, and have easily reduced my natural lifespan by a few decades. It was only after my first year of regular, intense gym workouts and following a strict diet of low-carbohydrates + whole foods that my recovery from vaccine damage began. It has been improving ever since. (Unfortunately, my being overweight with disproportionate fat accumulations & very easy weight gain is still an ongoing yet unrelated problem to this particular matter).

Hopefully the aforementioned will supply you with what you might consider to be worthwhile food for thought.

We Must Protest Always: A Zinger of a Letter on Vaccines

Hello,

The purpose of this letter is to address our phone conversation which took place on November 6, 2020. Regrettably, I failed to ask your name; so egregious was the dialogue received.

Unfortunately, yes it has taken me over a month to be able to address this matter; as I am very busy with working at 2 concurrent jobs + have had numerous other important responsibilities and deadlines to meet.

Specifically, my phone call to you at the aforementioned day and time is regarding my inquiry which was pertaining to my local gym imposing a draconian rule that ‘all people should be masked at all times inside our facility’, which is in direct contravention to the exemption stipulated within the City of Hamilton by-law: “A person who is actively engaged in an athletic or fitness activity” https://www.hamilton.ca/coronavirus/face-coverings-and-masks-by-law.

During our phone conversation, you flatly, rudely dismissed my concern: “Join another gym or jog around the block” was your ‘advice’, rather than addressing the harmful, unnecessary requirement being imposed upon members of this gym. You also dismissed the physical consequences mentioned to you as a direct result of my trying to adhere to the gym’s ‘fully masked at ALL times’ imposition. You did not care that the gym failed to consider warnings issued by the WHO with respect to the engagement of physical activity while masked; please refer to the enclosed information. (You can also freely access many other sources of similar health warnings).

I then expressed concerns regarding the likelihood of upcoming mandatory vaccinations for Covid-19 (the recovery rate from Covid-10 is approx. 99.3%, so why would a vaccine even be necessary or moreover, mandatory?), and explained how vaccines have always caused me serious reactions from which I continue to suffer, and thus I am unable to receive any further vaccines of any kind, ever again…. because the next one would likely kill me.

Your response to this was… in a condescending, petulant, sarcastic tone of voice… “I like to obey the law. I alllllways OBEY the lawwww. What if there was a smallpox epidemic?

Would you still refuse to get a vaccine?”

So in essence, you implied that my being unable to receive vaccines ever again (without experiencing further damage & harm) is tantamount to committing an illegal or even criminal act.

The zero compassion, zero humanity, extremely Communist mentality you demonstrated is not only deeply shameful, but is also acutely terrifying.

We need a leader, not someone trying to limit Christmas gatherings.

People Of Saskatchewan,

Since Scott Moe declared a State Of Emergency in March of this year, we have been extremely patient (and perhaps naïve) with the provincial government’s handling of the so-called “COVID-19 pandemic”. Sentiments seem to have changed considerably following Moe’s re-election earlier this year as citizens are beginning to see that he is completely willing to restrict our freedom over a flu virus which has a survival rate of approximately 99%.

Scott Moe recently called out an anti-lockdown rally that was held in the provincial capital on Saturday, December 12th, for its alleged “racism”, even though the comment about Health Officer Saqib Shahab was about not being able to remember the names of foreigners. It is worth noting that whether or not someone is a foreign citizen (Shahab is obviously not), race does not necessarily factor – but Scott Moe will cry racism in order to avoid answering the calls of hundreds who attended, demanding the State Of Emergency be lifted. I myself attended and can say that the only thing more impressive than the turnout was the speakers themselves, who recognize that these measures are not truly in the interest of public health, but to bring forward, inch-by-inch, a world government surveillance state where your opinion is essentially meaningless and you are considered a tax-slave. If that’s the type of world you want to live in, then keep waiting for your next opportunity to vote because liberation simply isn’t on the ballot anymore.

We have watched a proposal for a 3-week lockdown in order to “flatten the curve” turn into a prolonged stretch lasting the entire year without a definite end in sight. Bill Gates, the Vaccine Predator, is saying this thing could last until 2022.

This government has went from imposing lockdown measures out of an “abundance of caution”, to fining people thousands of dollars for not wearing a mask at the local, public library. This is what oppression looks like. There is a coordinated media campaign to instill fear into the hearts of those who would think to stand up to these measures, yet fines mean nothing if they are constitutionally unenforceable in a court of law. We’ll take your unjustified, unconstitutional fines to court every single time – and we’ll tell the Judge what we think about them too.

Change starts here at home and when the business owners in this province (especially restaurant owners) want change bad enough, it will come. Let’s retake our province, then retake the entire federal constituency as well, and when we have accomplished that, maybe we’ll ask Denmark if they are willing to make a deal for Greenland (territorial jurisdiction is important to our success). In exchange, we’ll send them all the snakes who are currently in our mainstream media, spreading their deception by cherry-picking facts to fit their twisted narrative and hoping you’re too stupid to notice.

Let’s not buy into a narrative of fear over these holidays but recognize it for what it is: an important religious holiday for Catholics, a time to be with family, and an opportunity to express gratitude with what we have.

CALGARY: Mayor Naheed Nenshi led Calgary’s City Council in voting to extend the mandatory mask bylaw for a year and double fines for non-compliance.

Under the new bylaw, masks will be mandatory in most non-residential places until December 2021.

Fines were also doubled by the council, up to $100 for a first time offence, $200 for a second offence, and $300 for a third.

The council approved the new bylaw by a 9-3 vote, with conservative councillors Jeromy Farkas, Sean Chu, and Joe Magliocca opposed, and Nenshi and the remaining councillors present in favour.

The year-long extension and increase in fines comes on the heals of persistent ‘Freedom Marches’ on Saturdays in opposition to lockdowns and mask-mandates.

Nenshi strongly condemned the marches, but supported Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests during the summer.

Calgary’s move to extend the bylaw came after Alberta’s UCP government imposed a province-wide mandatory mask law and full lockdown that will last at least into the new year.

These measures are facing a constitutional challenge from the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF).

The City of Edmonton extended its mandatory mask bylaw for an entire year in late November.

One Woman’s Passionate Plea to Premier Doug Ford: “No More Lockdowns!

Premier Ford, 


As you may be aware, Quebec Premier François Legault has decided to shut all non-essential businesses for two weeks, beginning Christmas Day, as a result of new COVID 19 infections in that province. Essential services such as grocery stores, supermarkets, drugstores, hardware stores and garages will not be affected by the measure, which will apply from December 25 to January 11.


Apparently, you have refused to rule out similar measures for Ontario – or at least in the GTA – which would appear to have the lion’s share of new COVID 19 cases. 


I am strongly opposed to this potential new lockdown in Ontario – as I believe that it will do very little to thwart the rising daily number of new COVID 19 cases. The current lockdown in the City of Toronto and Peel Region, which have been in place for a few weeks now, has completely failed to do much of anything,especially given the fact that those who most enthusiastically support these job destroying and small business ruining lockdowns – would appear to hypocritically have no problem with public schools and other facilities remaining open. I am guessing that the potential electoral backlash from those many parents who use public schools as a type of glorified baby sitting service – resonates much more with lawmakers than any business lobby ever could – hence the aforementioned glaring hypocrisy and contradiction? 


Never mind that public schools are far more likely to be vectors of COVID 19 transmission – than any restaurants offering indoor dining  – which are already operating at 75% or less capacity – and which have implemented expensive social distancing and contact tracing measures – along with regular decontamination protocols – all at great financial cost – ever could. Nevertheless, in my experience, very few, if any, elected public servants are prepared to deviate from the proverbial script – much less the iron yolk of mass conformity during these times. 


An eye on the next election cycle and one’s Sunshine List six figure salary as well as OMERS pension – would appear to bury any righteous objections – much less the use of critical thinking skills and deductive reasoning abilities in most of our public servants (surely an argument for strict term limits and recall mechanisms – to say nothing of ranked ballots – at all levels of government – if there ever was one) – when their primary focus at ALL levels of government should be individually advocating tirelessly with your government to find ways to mitigate and alleviate the restrictions on workers and business owners.Instead, many, not all, but many of your Liberal and NDP aligned opponents, both provincially and municipally, largely give your government a blank cheque, when it comes to these draconian lockdowns, and rather focus on demanding that your government run up even higher deficits to cover income supports for all of those dislocated by these unnecessary lockdowns.


Unfortunately, no real organized opposition or individual dissenting voices, with the notable exception of MPP Randy Hillier, currently exists at Queen’s Park, but I believe that that will soon change with the formal registration in the early new year of a new populist provincial political party, which will finally give a voice to the the tens of millions of Ontarians who have had their jobs and businesses taken away from them as a result of these repeated lockdowns. 


Being a skeptic or a critic during these Covid 19 times – is increasingly an audacious and revolutionary act. However, for a growing number of Ontarians like myself, fidelity to truth, facts, common sense, personal freedom, individual liberty, property rights and bodily autonomy are paramount. 


I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that any new lockdown in Ontario – or enhanced lockdown – for those Ontario regions which have already been under this statism run amok for the past few weeks – will result in the cancellation of countless numbers of surgeries and diagnostic imaging in hospitals – as hospital CEOs are already asking their staff to “make room” for an anticipated wave of COVID 19 cases. I wonder how many Ontarians will now die as a result of cancelled surgeries and/or diagnostic testing? In the UK this year,over 2000 people have died from pancreatic or liver cancer alone – as a result of British hospitals cancelling surgeries, diagnostics and treatments.You are aware that cancer, HIV/AIDS, clogged arteries and sclerotic organs do not take a vacation just because COVID 19 gets disproportionate attention, right?


I also wonder how many idiots with a mild cough or sniffle will now flood ERs all across Ontario as a result of your government’s extreme and disproportionate overreaction to these rising – but primarily asymptomatic cases – where there is a very low hospitalization rate and an extremely low mortality rate? The vast majority of COVID 19 deaths are the result of comorbidity – with those of very advanced age and immunodeficiency being the primary victims. 


Of course, the sensationalizing media will no doubt fan the flames of public hysteria over any new or enhanced lockdown. 


If you are so concerned that Ontario’s hospitals will be overrun with new COVID 19 cases – which is apparently your justification for – what in my opinion – are these illegal and unconstitutional lockdowns – which trample all over my fundamental rights and freedoms – then why have you not over the course of this calendar year – since the very beginning of the pandemic – established a parallel healthcare system – perhaps operated by the medical corps of the Canadian military – which could erect vast tent cities on the outskirts of any and all sizeable Ontario population centres – for the sole purpose of diagnosing and treating those with suspected or confirmed cases of COVID 19. A toll free number could be established and an over the phone assessment would determine if a person has or likely has COVID 19. This would immediately remove the threat to civilian hospitals of being overrun – and separate medical transportation to such COVID 19 centres could transport those who have or think they may have COVID 19. I am thinking a hermetically sealed special ambulance – equipped with oxygen tanks.Of course, it would have to be strictly voluntary for anyone to go to these COVID 19 treatment/recovery sites – but it would result in not requiring these economically destructive lockdowns. Such facilities would be open and transparent – with full access for visitors and the media. Why are you and the other Premiers not already discussing this option or at least something along these lines with the Prime Minister? Surely, anything to avoid a lockdown and paralysis of the economy should be your very top priority? 


You also could create a separate provincial medical corp made up of recalled recently retired physicians, nurses, etc. to exclusively diagnose and treat COVID 19 patients inside of a plethora of provincial government owned buildings – both those in use and those which have been decommissioned. There are also countless municipal government buildings, schools, community centres, military bases,airport hangers, etc. There is no valid reason why civilian hospitals need to be overrun and ICU and ER beds taken by severely ill COVID 19 patients – assuming there are truly going to be that many of them – I have my doubts – and this can all be accomplished in my opinion – without the need for any current or existing lockdowns. You simply are not thinking outside of the proverbial box here. 
I am quite certain that your well paid team of literally thousands of physicians, public health officials, policy wonks and other assorted bureaucrats could conceive of many different ways to deal with this supposed “imminent tidal wave of Covid 19 cases” which are both creative and anything but the status quo. The fact that you or no other national or sub national elected leader has bothered to think outside of the proverbial box and devise creative solutions to this issue – makes me and a growing number of people highly suspicious as to what is really behind all of this madness. 


I believe that the COVID 19 pandemic is very real – but I question the degree to which it is truly a danger to those who are not already of an advanced age and/or who have serious immunodeficiency. I also believe that many state (governments) and non-state actors (big businesses, banks and pharmaceutical corporations) all over the world – are exploiting this tragedy to advance their own self serving agendas. Not all of them, but many of them.Too many things do not make sense -nor do they add up – as it were. 
I am also very disheartened to see you and many other public servants ,state, “I will listen to the advice of the medical experts” as the standard scripted generic reply to any inquiries such as mine. The medical officers of health are NOT all seeing and all knowing. They DO NOT possess a monopoly on solutions. In fact, some of them even publicly disagree and contradict each other concerning which measures to take and when to take them. The recent disagreement on whether or not to put York Region into lockdown between Dr Kurji and Dr Williams comes to mind. Yet, so many of our elected officials meekly abdicate all decision making to these unelected “experts”. It is truly shameful to say the least. What ever happened to shopping around for the proverbial second opinion? Why do you and most of your public sector ilk always side with the very worst case scenario where COVID 19 is concerned? You seem to automatically assume that whichever “medical expert” paints the most dire and bleak scenario – is the correct one by default – yet this comes at the expense of my livelihood, dignity,freedom and liberty. 


While I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that this email will fall on deaf ears – where appealing to you to publicly oppose a lockdown is concerned – I would like to take this opportunity to at least ask you not to begin any new or enhanced lockdown until Christmas Day – as per Quebec’s example? Individuals and businesses both need as well as richly deserve sufficient time to prepare for it. Furthermore, the days leading up to Christmas Day are the most important all year for the vast majority of businesses. This time of the year is truly the economic lifeblood for most businesses and their employees – especially retailers. 


May your critical thinking skills, deductive reasoning abilities and healthy skepticism wisely guide all of your future public policy decisions. 
Be bold, be strong, be courageous and work smarter – not harder.

Rogue Ontario MPP Randy Hillier doesn’t mince words. He never has. The Tory-turned-independent from the notoriously populist-conservative Ottawa Valley has always been on the outside looking in, even when he was on the inside of the PC Caucus. In November 2020 he was charged for leading an anti-lockdown protest at the Ontario Legislature.

The Western Standard‘s Ernest Skinner spoke with Hiller about his opposition to lockdowns, mandatory-masking, and why he is putting his neck on the line to fight them.

1.  Who is Randy Hillier, the MPP?

“Well, I’m an independent member the legislature and the provincial Parliament for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston. I’ve been in elected office since 2007. My political views don’t always get met with enthusiasm as I am a bit of a maverick you could say. Besides that, I’m a dad, a husband, a father of four kids, and have 6 grandkids.”

2. Would you consider yourself an outlaw or bohemian in the realms of your political views at times?

“Well, listen, I’m a very independent-minded person, and I speak my mind, regardless of what others may or may not think, and that often has me swimming against the currents of political correctness and accepted dogma. I’ve often been in the penalty box, but I have an absolute foundational view that to be in elected office, one must be truthful and honest at all times, regardless of the consequences.”

3. We all know that you’re against the lockdowns. Can you comment on your findings regarding deaths and collateral damage as a direct result of them?

“Yes, the Justice Center for Constitutional Freedoms released a report today (December 3) that lays out an exceptionally strong case of the evidence that the lockdowns and this social experiment that we have undertaken as a result of COVID[-19] have led to substantial and significant harm, injury and fatality for those who were never at risk of COVID. We are seeing at least a 50 per cent increase in deaths in these other areas such as the suicides, addiction, overdoses, etc.”

4. How would you assess Chief Health Medical Officer Dr. Theresa Tam’s handling of COVID-19 and her advice to Canadians since March?

“Professionally, I’d have to do use some diplomatic language, and just call her incompetent. This is the same person who suggested that masks could not stop the spread of COVID at the height of the threat, and then in July thought they were the most wonderful thing. She also said you should wear them when you are having sex, and one of the ways we can reduce the spread is by engaging in masturbation instead of intimate relations.”

5. What are your thoughts on Doug Ford and how he has used his powers since the start of the pandemic?

“He should be singled out for derision. He came into office with a mandate of open economy, that Ontario is open for business, that he is for the little guy. He’s also the one we’ve seen throughout this, telling people that it was too dangerous to go to the cottage; we find he’s going to his cottage. He tells people it’s unsafe to have a wedding, and he’s going to weddings. It’s been an endless contradiction. He told us we have to have a broad-based provincial approach to this and then of course that changed to a regional approach. He’s been flying off-the–cuff for nine months and everybody in Ontario has been harmed by this ineptness.”

6. Why do you think that “experts” such as Dr. Tam, Dr. Fauci, and others keep staying on the same path even when they reverse course and contradict themselves? Can you also talk a bit about the wearing of masks.

“Well, I see them as bureaucrats; they’re not engaged in practising medicine even though at some point they may have had a medical degree. We all know that if you are going to wear a mask the benefits have to outweigh the consequences. We know very clearly now that the asymptomatic spread is not an issue. If you are going to contract the virus it’s going to be because you are in a confined space with proximity to infected people for a prolonged period of time. Many studies tell us that” 

7. Have you personally spoken with experts in the field of vaccines and viruses that disagree with the lockdown and mandatory-mask approach?

“Today, [December 3] I’ll be speaking with Dr. Roger Hodkinson who has been slammed by big tech and social media for speaking out at an Edmonton city council meeting. I’ve spoken with Dr. Matt Straus, Dr. Kulvinder Kaur, Dr. Stephen Malthouse and these are credible doctors. Tens of thousands across the world have signed on to the Great Barrington Declaration,stating unequivocally that this social experiment of masking and lockdowns in isolation and confinement is not a solution. Another thing is social media has been engaged in actively suppressing dissenting views, and we’ve also seen it from our mainstream media – CTV, CBC, anybody who has a dissenting opinion – is disregarded as some sort of conspiracy theorist. We had Dr. Lawrence Rosenberg, the Chief Medical Officer of Health in Montreal state it’s like a bad flu season, and even our own Minister of Long Term Care stated categorically that it was like a bad flu season; but both the MSM and our social media have been active in suppressing that information and knowledge to the general public.”

8. Regarding your colleagues in the legislature; are there others that you know of that agree with your thoughts and views on COVID-19?

“A great many. These are people that I know in the NDP, the Liberal Party, the CP, who all share my views and my sentiments or a great many of them. They are fearful of speaking out. They’re fearful of being removed from their caucus, being kicked out of their parties, fearful of losing the added perks and benefits of being a parliamentary assistant or a minister.”

9. What would be your overall personal assessment of what people in general are feeling, and the ramifications for the ones in charge of steering the ship?

“People are living in fear, because they have not been exposed to alternative views and dissenting opinions. They are not aware of the facts and evidence that show beyond a reasonable doubt that this situation is exaggerated. At the end of the day – as more and more of these exaggerations are dispelled – people will come to realize that we made some very horrible and tragic decisions during COVID[-19] and there is going to be a price to pay for those officials who failed to do their jobs”

10. What advice would you give to people that are confused by the contradictions and questionable advice that our leaders are giving us? 

“There’s an individual whose name is Dr. Michael Yeadon. He’s a former chief scientist for Pfizer. He has put out a video which is about  30 minutes long. It is an astonishing, all-encompassing video that covers things such as masks. It covers clearly why the tests that we’re doing are creating so many false-positives and that we ought not to be basing our public policies on a test that is faulty, and faulty to such a high degree. He would be a good one to go to for people that have very limited time to investigate on their own.”

For the first time in its 45 years, a grocery store in downtown Nelson, B.C., has hired a security guard — and it’s not to watch out for shoplifters.

Their job is to head off a growing increase in aggressive behaviour among some shoppers who refuse to wear a mask in the store, since the province announced last Thursday that face coverings are now mandatory in all retail spaces in a bid to control the spread of COVID-19.

Ari Derfel, store manager of the Kootenay Co-op, says while most customers have followed the new regulations, about 10 to 20 per cent of them are refusing to wear a mask and become confrontational when asked to do so.

“Their way of expressing [their argument] can be really aggressive, confrontational and mean to the point that they sometimes try to force themselves into the store without a mask,” Derfel told CBC reporter Bob Keating. 

“They speak in really demeaning, negative, critical ways to some of our staff and our cashiers.”

Some members of staff have broken down in tears and even quit as a result of the vitriol, he said.

Leannah Fidler, who has worked at the Kootenay Co-op for five years, says she has never seen her workplace like the pressure-cooker environment it is now. 

“We’re getting a lot of pushback from folks that either don’t really believe that [COVID-19] is a real thing, or don’t believe that masks are an appropriate way to combat it,” she said.

“People are just waiting for an altercation.”

Assistant manager Shannon McAllister is pleading with customers to end the verbal abuse toward her staff.

“At the end of the day, we’re all just people and we’re all trying to do our best and do our jobs,” she told Chris Walker, host of CBC’s Daybreak South.

“Especially people that are working in retail and grocery stores and restaurants … [they’re] doing so at their own risk to provide that service for our community.”

Most shoppers like regular customer Reiko Fujibayashi, who worked at the store for 10 years, have no problem masking up.

“I don’t understand why people would personalize something that’s a mandate,” she said.

The popular singer of ‘O Canada’ at Vancouver Canucks hockey games says he knew he might lose his job for standing up against what he describes as the “tyranny” of COVID-19 restrictions.

Mark Donnelly sang the national anthem at an event called the Christmas Freedom Rally in Vancouver on Saturday, where hundreds of people protested restrictions imposed by British Columbia’s provincial health officer.

Vancouver Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini tweeted late Friday that Donnelly was now the former Canucks anthem singer, followed by the Twitter hashtag #wearamask.

Donnelly told the crowd, many of whom weren’t wearing masks or physically distancing, that he decided to sing because he questions the “draconian lockdown protocols.”

“What was originally sold as a 15-day hunkering-down sprint for the common good has turned into a 10-month marathon from hell, where the finish line is constantly being moved further into the distance,” he said.

Donnelly said he doesn’t think health officials have done a cost-benefit analysis looking at the harms of the restrictions compared with preventing the spread of COVID-19.

“As someone known for singing our great national anthem, I’m standing up against what I feel is tyranny, plain and simple,” he said to applause and cheers from the crowd.

Donnelly described his firing as censorship by an institution that he’s followed for 50 years and been publicly associated with since 2001.

“Sports figures, entertainers, politicians, et cetera, can stand for anything as long as it supports the narrative. You can support rioting, looting, destruction of livelihoods and reputation, but take a position against the narrative and you are worthy of exile or worse.” 

Donnelly said he hasn’t had direct contact with Aquilini or the Canucks and that if he is no longer with the team, a phone call would have been a more respectful way to find out his reasons for taking part in the rally. 

He said he had hoped the ownership and management of the Canucks would have had the “courage to support the freedom to express [a] science-based position that is for the greater good of the country.”

‘Follow the provincial health orders’

On Saturday, Canucks COO Trent Carroll said in a statement that the organization hoped that people understood that Donnelly was not representing the team with his views.

“Mark Donnelly is acting independently,” the statement said.

“We encourage everyone to wear a mask and to follow the provincial health orders. They are in place to help everyone in B.C. to stop COVID-19 from spreading in our province.”

After listening to speeches on Saturday at the Vancouver Art Gallery, the protesters then took to the streets in a march.

Vancouver police spokesperson Tania Visintin said police need to exercise discretion with large groups of protesters violating public health orders, saying public safety is the priority.

She said mass arrests or ticketing could escalate an already tense situation. 

“This position does not automatically guarantee anyone special privileges at a protest. The bottom line is people who are contravening the public health order, they could be issued a ticket. Officers are using discretion with each situation that arises.”

B.C. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said last month that she has “no time for people who believe that wearing a mask somehow makes them ill or is a sign of lack of freedom.”

Instead, she said, wearing a mask is about respect for those who are suffering through the pandemic together.

Your Bat Flu Breaking Point

[I very much hope my readers take the challenge here seriously and start posing this question to lockdown supporters.   It would be very interesting to know how they would respond.   Would the realization that there is apparently nothing the government can do in the name of slowing the bat flu that would be too far in their estimation finally cause them to snap to about how dangerous that way of thinking is?Enjoy,Gerry T. Rod Dreher is a writer who blogs at the website of The American Conservative, the magazine founded by Pat Buchanan, Taki Theodoracopulos and Scott McConnell in 2002 to oppose the foreign policy of the George W. Bush administration and more specifically the drive for war in Iraq from the right.   Dreher is also the author of such books as Crunchy Cons (2006), How Dante Can Save Your Life (2015), The Benedict Option (2017), and most recently, Live Not By Lies which was released earlier this year.   The last title mentioned warns small-o orthodox Christians – Dreher, who was raised Protestant, became a Roman Catholic and is now Eastern Orthodox with a large-O – about the coming “soft totalitarianism” to which wokeness, the more militant successor to political correctness, is leading the Western world.  Note that there are many who would generally agree with Dreher’s assessment of wokeness but suggest that a past tense would be more appropriate than a future one.

Earlier this year, Dreher posted a piece entitled “Your Woke Breaking Point” at his blog.   He began with an excerpt from an article by Megan McArdle at the Washington Post about how Donald Trump’s predictions of four years ago as to how the attacks on Confederate monuments would lead to attacks on monuments to the American republic’s founders, such as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, were coming true.   McArdle, in her editorial, referenced Dreher’s “Law of Merited Impossibility” which has been stated several different ways, the best known being “It will never happen, and when it does you bigots will deserve it”.    The law satirizes, without exaggerating in the least, the paradox of the typical progressive response to conservative warnings about the direction in which left-wing causes seem to be heading, before and after the predictions are fulfilled.   It is likely to end up being Dreher’s single most significant and lasting contribution to political discourse.    McArdle’s article referencing it was an uncharacteristic moment of liberal self-criticism, in which she discussed the progressive side’s seeming inability to restrain its radicals and apply the brakes when they are going too far and too fast.

Dreher used the excerpt from McArdle’s article to introduce a challenge that he borrowed from mathematician James A. Lindsay.   Lindsay had tweeted on the 24th of June:

Talking with a brilliant friend last night keyed me into an important idea: everybody has a Woke breaking point, a point where they can’t deny any longer the fact that it’s a totalitarian nightmare. Encourage your sympathetic friends to start naming what theirs would be.

Dreher re-posted Lindsay’s tweet and several follow-up tweets, the first of which went:

Whose statue has to come down? Seriously, whose is the last straw? Who has to get cancelled? Fired? Doxxed? Destroyed? Beaten up? Killed? Does it take a lynching?  Does it take destroying the thing YOU love? Your family? Your kids? Your job? Your hobby? What is it? What’s too far?

It is an excellent question and one that we would do well to pose to any liberals of our acquaintance.  What do the Social Justice Warriors – the BLM, Antifa and MeToo# types — have to do before you will admit that they have gone too far?  

There is a very similar question that I would suggest we start posing to people.   Or perhaps it is the same question asked in a different context.

This question I would pose to all those people who think that all the public health orders, all the restrictions imposed to control the spread of the Wuhan bat flu, are necessary and especially to those who think that even more restrictions are called for.   I will note, obiter dictum, that Rod Dreher himself was certainly one of these back in the spring.   Whether he still is or not I am unaware because he has written far less on that subject in recent months than in March, April and May.  

The question is simply this – what is your Bat Flu Breaking Point? 

Let us clarify the matter with some follow up questions.

What do our public health officials have to do for you to agree that they have gone too far?   What line do they have to cross?   What freedom do they have to take away?   How much imposed loneliness, isolation, and misery is too much?   How many small businesses have to be destroyed?   How many people have to lose their jobs?   How many people have to be driven to suicide, drunkenness and substance abuse?   At what point is keeping us safe no longer worth the price we are being forced to pay for it?

Would curtailing to the point of eliminating our basic freedoms of association, assembly and religion be going too far?

Would telling people that they have to close the small businesses that has been in their families and served their local communities for generations and which they have been struggling to keep afloat for years right in the busiest shopping time of the year, the period that they rely upon to make enough to balance their books, be crossing the line?

Would fining people thousands of dollars for acts that are not only not mala in se but are rather clearly bona in se although forbidden by some petty health order be one step too many in the direction of totalitarianism?

Would opening a snitch line and encouraging people to rat out their family, friends and neighbours be the straw that breaks the camel’s back?

Would establishing a special police force – a Gestapo, Cheka/NKVD, or Stasi so to speak – for enforcing public health orders be the limit of what is tolerable?

Everything I have mentioned so far has already been done here in Manitoba and, indeed, in most if not all of the other provinces of the Dominion of Canada.   For the many who support all of these measures and say they are “necessary” it is difficult to imagine what further step could possibly be taken that would finally have these people saying that it is too much.  

Would it take forcing everybody to have foreign substances, including modified RNA, injected into their bodies upon penalty of not being allowed to work, buy groceries, or go anywhere if they refuse?

Would even telling everyone that they must pledge their allegiance to Satan by having 666 tattooed on their right hand or forehead in order to stop the spread of COVID-19 finally be enough to do it?
