In case you missed events this past week …
The most exciting news was the sold-out 3 showtimes of the movie Sound of Freedom at the Penticton Landmark Theatre. It was truly an emotional moment for me to see the turnout. According to the manager at the theatre, there has only been one other film in the past few years that had a sell-out crowd in its initial release, and that was a Mario movie. He’s never seen a serious film like this fill the theatre like this. MORE GOOD NEWS: Landmark Theatre in Penticton and in several theatres in Kelowna and West Kelowna, will be running several showtimes a day from tomorrow, Saturday, July 7, through next Tuesday, July 11. Based on a true story, exposing the child slave trade and hope about what one person can do to help make things right again.
At Sunday’s Penticton4Freedom event, Chris Pequin showed up and was invited to take the mic for a few minutes. He is vying to become the PC Party of Canada candidate in the next federal election, opposing Richard Cannings, and he congratulated us for continuing to hold our weekly events, even though mandates are lifted for now. (Like I always say, “Surprise speakers show up at many of our rallies. Miss a week. Miss a lot.”
Also a reminder that Granfondo is on this weekend with lots of road closures and the main event is at Lakeshore and Martin Street.
This should not interfere with our regular Sunday Freedom Event,
but it is a reminder to arrive early to find parking within a short walk of Lakawanna Park.

FAMILY FREEDOM EVENTS – Penticton4Freedom – every Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Moving to Lakawanna Park for the summer gives our events a more family-friend name and environment as part of reaching out to the community around us. Lots of families at the beach. Lots of folks are out strolling.

We welcome musical entertainers, and volunteers to manage a Kid’s Corner and help at information tables.
Please arrive early (12:30) to help set up the canopy and the tables, and to invite passers-by to join us.
Why? Because, this Sunday, we’ll have another last minute speaker you will surely want to hear.
Wayne has arranged for John Rustad to join us for some Q&A. For those of you who don’t know John, he was thrown out of the BC Liberal (United) Party for his views, went Independent, and then was recruited to resurrect the BC Conservative Party.

International Truth Day – July 15, 2023
Saturday, July 15th Once again we will be hosting International Truth Day here at the One Eyed Budgie/Truth Centre.
As many of you on this mailing list are well outside of our geographical area and likely not able to attend, I would encourage you all to host your own Truth Day gathering no matter how small it may be… it is the intent and energy that will carry across the land.
For those able to attend it will be as the previous gatherings:
– potluck event beginning in mid-afternoon and going until the crowd winds down,
– bring lawn chairs for yourselves,
– byob if required.
Prizes again for the oldest, youngest, furthest travelled, and the winners of the horseshoe tournament.

——————————- o0o————————————- ACTIONS OF THE WEEK Bill C-47 Is Now Law On June 22nd, 2023 the government passed Bill C-47 which will have far reaching effects on all natural health products and practitioners in Canada. The sections of the bill pertaining to natural health products (sections 500-504) were well hidden inside a lengthy budget bill and as a result, many Canadians were not aware of them. Now that the bill has passed, it is urgent that we take action to protect our access to natural health products. We must demand that our MPs repeal sections 500 to 504 from Bill C-47. Understanding the consequences of sections 500-504 of Bill C-47 is critical for any Canadian who uses natural health products, seeks services from natural health practitioners, and values their freedom to care for their body in whatever way they choose. The Natural Health Products Protection Association (NHPPA.org) has updated Shawn Buckley’s latest Discussion Paper to reflect Bill C-47 passing into law. Call your MP and request an in-person meeting to discuss the effects of Bill C-47 on natural health products. 2. Write a letter to your MP to share your concerns about Bill C-47 and how it will impact your access to natural health products and practitioners (to see guidelines for writing your letter, please watch for campaign updates at NHPPA.org) 3. Please subscribe to the Natural Health Products Protection Association (NHPPA.org) to receive their updates and action items. In May, we were able to e-transfer $420 to Druthers and it resulted in an extra 5,000 copies shipped to the Okanagan for distribution. Way to go, Penticton! We were able to distribute an extra 2 bundles of that ourselves. Donations were down in June, though, perhaps because we haven’t kept it front of mind. $110 was collected at rallies and e-transferred to Druthers for the July issue (for which we are grateful). Let’s keep this in mind this coming month. Remember – there is always a separate Druthers donation box at every rally. Special thanks go out to Steve …who is now getting business owners to chip in a few dollars every month when he drops off their supply of the latest editions.
