SIGN THE PETITION<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Upper Grand District School Board in Guelph, Ontario, sent a survey to all students in the school district asking Grade 7 students and older to reveal their sexual orientation in a non-anonymized census. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The potentially pre-pubescent students can choose between identifying<\/a> as Straight, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two-Spirit, Queer, Questioning, Asexual or Pansexual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the child\u2019s sexual identity is not listed, the board requests children to detail and specify their sexual interests to school staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey also asks students about their \u201cgender identity\u201d while listing over nine categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students have the option to fill in their category if educators aren\u2019t woke enough to know about their \u201cgender identity\u201d term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It further asks Grade 9 students and older to answer questions about their parents\u2019 socio-economic situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school board claims the information is required from the Ministry of Education to achieve \u201cequity, diversity, and inclusion\u201d goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Ministry of Education requires school boards to collect identity-based student data. This is in order to \u2018identify and monitor racial disparities in order to eliminate systemic racism and advance racial equity.’\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also says the census is confidential but not anonymous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey is found on the school board\u2019s website<\/a>, which showcases a video that promotes the surveys with help from two students on the board\u2019s Student Senate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey comes as a Canadian doctor warns of an uptick<\/a> in transgender surgeries for youth and suggested Canada \u2018slow down\u2019 surgeries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet\u2019s slow down and make sense of what is going on,\u201d said<\/a> Dr. Joey Bonifacio, who treats patients with gender identity issues at St. Michael\u2019s Hospital in Toronto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
