But lockdowns are based on dodgy data and exaggerations, as well as causing more harm than they supposedly prevent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of<a href=\"https:\/\/news.ontario.ca\/en\/release\/61029\/ontario-enacts-provincial-emergency-and-stay-at-home-order\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> today<\/a>, Ontario is once again locked down. The last lockdown of two months was<a href=\"https:\/\/www.680news.com\/2021\/04\/06\/ontario-announcing-provincewide-stay-at-home-order-sources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> lifted<\/a> only a month ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The province has endured the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newswire.ca\/news-releases\/ontario-lockdown-capital-of-north-america-expands-and-extends-failing-policy-871186710.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> longest<\/a> lockdowns in the country, thanks to politicians and medical officers pushing selective statistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The<em> \u201cStay-at-Home\u201d<\/em> order (sounds so much nicer than lockdown!)<a href=\"https:\/\/news.ontario.ca\/en\/release\/61029\/ontario-enacts-provincial-emergency-and-stay-at-home-order\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> requires<\/a> people to imprison themselves again, except for <em>\u201cessential purposes\u201d<\/em> (exempt, of course, are Canadian politicians, who have repeatedly<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/op-ed\/515756-canadian-politicians-flout-covid-saftey-rules\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> violated<\/a> their own exhortations).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This latest draconian lockdown again impacts nearly every aspect of Ontarians&#8217; ability to live their lives<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It means: closed businesses; increasing poverty, loneliness, and depression; increased domestic abuse, a rise in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/op-ed\/519837-covid19-lockdowns-mask-wearing-isolation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> suicides<\/a> and self-harm; and utter media hysteria (actually, the media hysteria and fear mongering has not ceased since the announcement of a pandemic one year ago).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A<a href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/ontario-provincial-government-end-the-lockdown-of-ontario-small-business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> petition<\/a> to end Ontario&#8217;s lockdown of small businesses notes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThere are over 440,000 small businesses in Ontario.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cLess than a week ago [state premier] Doug Ford told restaurants they would be allowed to operate outdoor dining even in grey zones; this caused restaurant owners to spend thousands of dollars on these spaces only to find out that this would not be the case in this current closure.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This level of carelessness and lack of foresight could be the demise of many locally owned restaurants.\u201d<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/news\/514991-ontario-nhl-indoor-dining-covid-restrictions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Also on rt.com Covid rules for me, but not for thee? Canadians fume after Ontario govt says NHL teams will be exempt from indoor dining ban<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alarmism and exaggerated ICU data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Premier Doug Ford, in his<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=im6aBhxjJlk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> address<\/a> yesterday, spoke of case rates, hospitalizations, and ICU occupancy <em>\u201cincreasing rapidly, threatening to overwhelm the healthcare system.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, as I&#8217;ve<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/op-ed\/519837-covid19-lockdowns-mask-wearing-isolation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> written<\/a> before, the whole concept of <em>\u201ccases rising\u201d<\/em> is meaningless: <em>\u201cCases are determined by Covid-19 tests, which have proved to be unreliable and inaccurate, giving false positives and creating a false picture of reality. This faulty testing is exacerbating the media hype over &#8216;rising cases.&#8217;\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And according to a long-time employee at the Ottawa General hospital I corresponded with: <em>\u201cI work in a large hospital and I pass through the Covid-19 ICU unit every day. And it\u2019s never been overflowing or too busy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or, as a columnist for the Toronto Sun<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brianlilley\/status\/1376649146954842118\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> noted<\/a>: <em>\u201cToronto\u2019s top doc said that data was showing younger people in ICUs. Asked about the data, she changed her tweet to say she was &#8216;hearing&#8217; of younger Toronto ICU patients. Big difference between data showing and you hearing anecdotally.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or, as an Ontario MPP<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Roman_Baber\/status\/1379408317248835584\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> noted<\/a>: <em>\u201cThe @OntHospitalAssn keeps fear mongering about ICU capacity. But Critical Care Services Ontario ICU data for Apr 3 reveals: Toronto 375 of 496 beds taken (76%) Central: 398 of 513 (78%) Ontario: 1852 of 2418 (77%) The question to the OHA is why?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, every year in flu season, we&#8217;ve had reports of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/health\/toronto-sickkids-hospital-struggling-to-provide-beds-amid-historic-overcrowding-1.3823619\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> overcrowding<\/a> in hospitals, hospitals<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/windsor\/hospitals-ontario-bed-shortage-1.3976543\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> bursting<\/a> at seams. This never caused us to shut down our economy and lock down our citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, more and more journalists are asking for<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/joe_warmington\/status\/1379741311666905089\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> proof<\/a> of the claims bandied about by the Fords and media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even Naomi Wolf, not your average <em>\u201cconspiracy theorist\u201d<\/em> or <em>\u201cright winger\u201d<\/em> (as those opposed to brutal lockdowns are often described by dinosaur media)<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/naomirwolf\/status\/1379555633503080461\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> tweeted<\/a>, <em>\u201cHow are Canadians still being told such gigantic lies? The whole \u2018lockdown equals public safety\u2019 mythology is fully deceased.\u201d<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/usa\/511395-quebec-home-covid-raid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Also on rt.com WATCH: Covid police raid Canadian home, violently arrest occupants after neighbor tattles on &#8216;illegal&#8217; gathering of 6 people<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vested interests in vaccines?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While ordinary Canadians suffer tremendously under lockdowns, Canada&#8217;s<a href=\"https:\/\/torontosun.com\/opinion\/columnists\/oconnor-powerful-health-officials-need-to-be-made-more-accountable\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> unelected<\/a> medical tyrants, the Medical Officers of Health (MOH) are doing quite well,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/page\/public-sector-salary-disclosure-2020-all-sectors-and-seconded-employees\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> earning<\/a> $200,000 &#8211; $300,000, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to pushing for this latest lockdown, Ontario MOHs went the extra mile and<a href=\"https:\/\/torontosun.com\/news\/provincial\/top-docs-call-for-new-province-wide-stay-at-home-order\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> called<\/a> for <em>\u201cfewer businesses to be deemed essential and more operations shut down.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because a year-plus of lockdowns destroying small businesses\u2019 ability to survive just wasn&#8217;t enough&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of these MOHs may even have financial links to the rollout of vaccines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his press conference yesterday, much of Premier Ford&#8217;s<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rev.com\/blog\/transcripts\/doug-ford-press-conference-ontario-ca-stay-at-home-orders-transcript-april-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> focus<\/a> was on pushing jabs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ford promised, <em>\u201cbetter days are ahead of us,\u201d<\/em> followed by more calls for Ontarians to get jabbed with vaccines made faster than ever before which,&nbsp; technically, will not even be out of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/uk-factcheck-vaccine-monitoring-idUSKBN2AC2G3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">clinical trials<\/a> stage till next year at the earliest.&nbsp; Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/news\/519563-canada-suspends-astrazeneca-clots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Canada halts AstraZeneca vaccine roll-out for people under 55, citing \u2018substantial uncertainty\u2019 amid blood clot concerns<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AstraZeneca vaccine is being suspended by countries around the world for causing<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/germany-suspends-astrazeneca-vaccine-blood-clotting-0ab2c4fe13370c96c873e896387eb92f?utm_source=upday&amp;utm_medium=referral\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> blood clotting<\/a>, which could lead to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmj.com\/content\/372\/bmj.n699\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> death<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In spite of this, Ontario<a href=\"https:\/\/covid-19.ontario.ca\/vaccine-locations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> continues<\/a> to push it. As of April first, Canada has<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/health\/coronavirus\/health-canada-greenlights-u-s-batch-of-astrazeneca-covid-19-vaccine-1.5371335\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> bought<\/a> around 24 million doses. In addition to its AstraZeneca purchases, Canada agreed to purchase at least<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/health\/coronavirus\/canada-locks-in-20m-more-pfizer-covid-19-vaccine-doses-to-arrive-this-spring-1.5263452\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> 20 million<\/a> doses of Pfizer\u2019s hurried vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In March, the media<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/toronto-lockdown-czars-husband-has-financial-ties-to-pfizer-astrazeneca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> reported<\/a> that Toronto&#8217;s MOH, Eileen de Villa, is married to Dr Richard Choi, a cardiologist and lecturer at Unity Health Toronto, who<a href=\"https:\/\/cardiovascupdate.ca\/files\/2020\/CV%20Update%20Symposium-Presentation.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> lists<\/a> Pfizer and AstraZeneca among his &#8216;Relationships with financial interests.&#8217; Under de Villa\u2019s leadership, <em>\u201cToronto Public Health has been used as a tool to counter any &#8216;misinformation&#8217; about vaccination,\u201d<\/em> and was allegedly <em>\u201cbehind a call to ban vaccine exemptions because of religious or philosophical beliefs.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another<a href=\"https:\/\/divergemedia.ca\/2021\/03\/04\/torontos-medical-officer-dr-eileen-de-villas-husband-has-financial-relationships-with-major-vaccine-manufacturers-is-this-a-conflict-of-interest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> article<\/a> on the de Villa-Choi conflict of interest noted:<em> \u201cIt\u2019s not a good look when you lock down your city when you don\u2019t have to and your husband has financial interests with AstraZeneca and Pfizer.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In mid-March, Premier Ford<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/gQBiVkQrRX4?t=1306\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> said<\/a> he isn&#8217;t making the decisions, the chief medical officers are. He also said it would<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EvaKBartlett\/status\/1379451598523543552\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> essentially<\/a> be political suicide to go against them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cTo be frank, there\u2019s no politician in the country who\u2019s going to disagree with their chief medical officer. They\u2019re just not going to do it. They might as well throw a rope around their neck and jump off a bridge.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last December, Toronto&#8217;s Associate MOH, Dr. Barbara Yaffe, and Chief MOH, Dr. David Williams,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ckVCtaiZlME\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> admitted<\/a> they are just reading a script, <em>\u201cI just say what they write down for me.\u201d<\/em> And laughed about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, we have unelected medical officers running the show, essentially forcing government decisions on lockdowns and related issues. And as a Toronto lawyer opposed to lockdowns<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rpoconnor\/status\/1379526189572878344\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> noted<\/a>,<em> \u201clocal Councils are legally powerless to stop\u201d<\/em> these unaccountable MOHs. How wonderfully democratic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is definitely a will and momentum to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/op-ed\/518596-canada-draconian-covid-restrictions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> resist<\/a> the brutal lockdown measures affecting all but the fat cats flouting them.
