We hope to stay connected with you and work together to resist and reverse the rapid degradation of civil rights currently occurring in Canada.<br><strong>OCLA report \u201cCriticism of Government Response to COVID-19 in Canada\u201d<\/strong><br>In April, we published a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ocla.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/OCLA-Report-2020-1-Criticism-of-Government-Response-to-COVID19.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">research report<\/a> authored by OCLA researcher Dr. Denis Rancourt, criticizing the government\u2019s actions during the spring lockdown. The Abstract of the report reads as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><em>We review the scientific literature about general-population lockdown and social-distancing measures, which is relevant to mitigation policy in Canada. Federal and provincial Canadian government responses to and communications about COVID-19 have been irresponsible. The latest research implies that the government interventions to \u201cflatten the curve\u201d risk causing significant additional cumulative COVID-19 deaths, due to seasonal driving of transmissibility and delayed societal immunity.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Denis has written several research and review articles on COVID-19, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/vixra.org\/abs\/2006.0044?fbclid=IwAR2PqmlptqkXT9ycxyFsYXabw1LMBIFq4W5M4qXeDPe7LaGymwpsZ8cRNpM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Masks don\u2019t work: A review of science relevant to Covid-19 social policy<\/a> (April 2020)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/341832637_All-cause_mortality_during_COVID-19_No_plague_and_a_likely_signature_of_mass_homicide_by_government_response\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">All-cause mortality during COVID-19: No plague and a likely signature of mass homicide by government response<\/a> (June 2020)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/343399832_Face_masks_lies_damn_lies_and_public_health_officials_A_growing_body_of_evidence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Face masks, lies, damn lies, and public health officials: &#8220;A growing body of evidence&#8221;<\/a> (August 2020)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/343775235_Evaluation_of_the_virulence_of_SARS-CoV-2_in_France_from_all-cause_mortality_1946-2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Evaluation of the virulence of SARS-CoV-2 in France, from all-cause mortality 1946-2020<\/a> (August 2020)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/347964673_Measures_do_not_prevent_deaths_transmission_is_not_by_contact_masks_provide_no_benefit_vaccines_are_inherently_dangerous_Review_update_of_recent_science_relevant_to_COVID-19_policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Measures do not prevent deaths, transmission is not by contact, masks provide no benefit, vaccines are inherently dangerous: Review update of recent science relevant to COVID-19 policy<\/a> (December 2020)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OCLA\u2019s opposition to mandatory face mask policies<\/strong><br><br><strong><\/strong>OCLA continues to oppose the arbitrary and draconian imposition of face masks on the general population. Our interventions in 2020 are documented at the following links:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>OCLA asks the World Health Organization (WHO) to retract its recommendation advising the use of face masks in the general population: <a href=\"https:\/\/ocla.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/2020-06-21-Letter-OCLA-to-WHO-DG.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/ocla.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/2020-06-21-Letter-OCLA-to-WHO-DG.pdf<\/a><\/li><li>OCLA\u2019s practice guide for civil disobedience against mandatory masking: <a href=\"https:\/\/ocla.ca\/ocla-recommends-civil-disobedience-against-mandatory-masking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/ocla.ca\/ocla-recommends-civil-disobedience-against-mandatory-masking\/<\/a><\/li><li>Campaign page containing letters to Ontario municipal officials and their responses: <a href=\"https:\/\/ocla.ca\/opposing-mandatory-face-masks-in-ontario-municipalities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/ocla.ca\/opposing-mandatory-face-masks-in-ontario-municipalities\/<\/a><\/li><li>Invitation to Keith Egli, Chairperson of Ottawa Board of Health, to participate in a public debate on mandatory face masks (Mr. Egli declined): <a href=\"https:\/\/ocla.ca\/the-chairperson-of-the-ottawa-board-of-health-keith-egli-refuses-to-debate-ottawas-face-mask-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/ocla.ca\/the-chairperson-of-the-ottawa-board-of-health-keith-egli-refuses-to-debate-ottawas-face-mask-law\/<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OCLA\u2019s submission on new online hate speech law<\/strong><br>In July 2020, civil liberties associations were invited by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada to participate in consultations to \u201cinform the development of legal remedies for victims of online hate\u201d.<br>OCLA has previously argued that the \u201chate speech\u201d provisions of Canada\u2019s <em>Criminal Code<\/em> are unconstitutional and in violation of the <em>International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights<\/em>, and we reiterated this argument in <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ocla.ca\/minister-of-justice-of-canada-holding-consultations-on-new-online-hate-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\">our submission<\/a> for the July 2020 consultations, as well as critiquing the Minister\u2019s specific proposed additions to Canada\u2019s hate speech laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Defending free speech of Ontario medical doctor Dr. Kulvinder Gill<\/strong><br>In August, OCLA asked Dr. Brenda Copps, President of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), to dismiss the CPSO\u2019s investigations of tweets made by Ontario medical doctor Dr. Kulvinder Gill that are critical of COVID-19 policy and practices. The letter can be read here: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ocla.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/2020-08-11-OCLA-letter-to-CPSO-President.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/ocla.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/2020-08-11-OCLA-letter-to-CPSO-President.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Internet censorship<\/strong><br>\u201cBlocking YouTube channels and banning books on Amazon are akin to requiring government authorisation to operate a printing press or to buy a photocopier or pen and paper. Only the technology and the administrative covering structures have changed. Establishment censorship is establishment censorship.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The above quote is from OCLA\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ocla.ca\/amazons-deplatforming-of-ezra-levants-china-virus-book\/\" target=\"_blank\">statement<\/a> opposing Amazon\u2019s deplatforming of Ezra Levant\u2019s book <em>China Virus: How Justin Trudeau\u2019s Pro-Communist Ideology is Putting Canadians in danger<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>We, like many other organizations and individuals, have also been affected by social media censorship. In July, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ocla.ca\/disappearance-and-reappearance-of-oclas-facebook-group\/\" target=\"_blank\">our Facebook group was disappeared<\/a> and then reappeared 24 hours later. Many posts in the group are now being arbitrarily removed by Facebook. As a backup in the event that Facebook deletes our group, OCLA maintains an <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/mewe.com\/group\/5f282c504c45c17d75d6ace4\" target=\"_blank\">alternative group at MeWe<\/a>.
