If you can believe it, \nthe entire nightmare began after Transit Police Officer Constable Peter \nKwok ordered Ms. Foley to leave the train due to not wearing a mask, \neven though she clearly explained to him that she was medically exempt \nfrom wearing one. Kwok claimed that medical exemptions were no longer \nvalid due to the provincial health order, yet both TransLink and the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bclaws.gov.bc.ca\/civix\/document\/id\/mo\/mo\/m0425_2020\" target=\"_blank\">official Use of Face Coverings in Indoor Public Spaces (COVID-19) Order<\/a>&nbsp;specify that there are in fact people who are medically exempt from wearing a mask.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cnew normal\u201d that the government has mandated for \nBritish Columbians seems to be opening up the floodgates for people \nfeeling entitled to discriminate against people who are medically exempt\n from wearing face coverings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a previous&nbsp;<em>Rebel News&nbsp;<\/em>report, we showed you how a human rights complaint was filed after&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rebelnews.com\/human_rights_complaint_filed_after_mask_exempt_customers_denied_service_at_bc_cafe\" target=\"_blank\">The Hide Out Cafe in New Westminster refused service without accommodation<\/a>&nbsp;to two people who claimed to have mask exemptions..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The issue is becoming so prevalent that <em>Global News<\/em>\n even reported that two different Chapter\u2019s Indigo stores in the lower \nmainland refused indoor service to medically exempt individuals.&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/7520912\/mask-exemption-b-c-woman-files-complaint-after-autistic-son-denied-entry-at-indigo-store\/\" target=\"_blank\">One was a 12 year old autistic boy, and the other, a retired Canadian Paralympic swimmer named Elisabeth Walker-Young<\/a>, who has no hands with which to put a mask on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Rebel News&nbsp;<\/em>is happy to offer Valerie \nAnn Foley a platform to tell her side of the story, and we have also \ntaken on Foley as one of our newest Fight the Fines cases.
