ONTARIO, December 18, 2020 (LifeSiteNews<\/a>)\n \u2014 The health minister of Ontario reaffirmed once again that residents \nof Canada\u2019s most populous province will need \u201cfor lots of reasons\u201d a yet\n to be determined type of proof that they received the COVID-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPeople will receive a confirmation of the vaccination when they \nreceive their first dose. They will get a receipt indicating that \nthey\u2019ve had their first dose. When they get the second dose, they will \nreceive confirmation. We are just finalizing the format it\u2019s going to \ntake,\u201d said Ontario\u2019s health minister<\/a>, Christine Elliott, to reporters Thursday, while taking questions after an announcement for new mental health funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Elliott added that after a person has received his second dose of the\n COVID-19 vaccine, the government will issue him something \u201cmore \nsubstantive\u201d than a simple receipt that he had the shot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is something that we\u2019ve planned for all along, and we know that\n many people are going to need that confirmation for a whole variety of \nreasons \u2014 travel, work-related, and other reasons,\u201d said Elliott.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPeople will receive a receipt when they receive the first dose, and \nthen, upon the second dose, when it\u2019s been completed, they will receive \nsomething more substantive, as I said, because many people are going to \nneed it for lots of reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lisa Bildy, a lawyer for the Justice Centre for Constitutional \nFreedoms (JCCF), told LifeSiteNews that for a government to \u201cthreaten or\n mandate liberty restrictions\u201d against Canadians who do not want a \nCOVID-19 vaccine is indeed a violation of one\u2019s charter rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe government should make the Covid-19 vaccine available to all \nCanadians who want it, starting with those who are the most vulnerable. \nThat should be the end of their involvement in the personal health \ndecisions of Canadians,\u201d Bildy told LifeSiteNews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTo do otherwise, and particularly to threaten or mandate liberty \nrestrictions on Canadians who make the perfectly reasonable assessment \nthat they do not need or want such a vaccine, is a violation of the \nrights to freedom of conscience and belief, mobility rights, and the \nright to life, liberty and security of the person under the Charter. If \nthere\u2019s no solid data on transmission, then there is simply no rational \nbasis for the infringement of these rights.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
