Rand Paul (R-KY) told Breitbart News on \nSaturday that mask mandates \u2014 ostensibly issued for public health \npurposes \u2014 \u201care all about submission,\u201d offering his remarks in an \ninterview with Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow at Turning \nPoint USA\u2019s Student Action Summit in West Palm Beach, FL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Partial transcript below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><iframe width=\"480\" height=\"320\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>MARLOW: You have a \nterrific speech \u2026 and you started with something that I wasn\u2019t \nanticipating, but I absolutely loved, and that\u2019s some actual science \nabout the mask mandates. You broke it down in a very clear way. Talk to \nus about it.&nbsp;<\/p><p>PAUL: It\u2019d be one thing if we were \ntold you have to give up your liberty, you have to give up your freedom,\n we\u2019re going to save your life. But what if you have to give up all your\n freedoms and they\u2019re wrong on the science?&nbsp;<\/p><p>Every one of the mandates \u2014 and you \nlook in country after country, state after state \u2014 you look at when the \nmask mandates went in \u2014 the incidents went up exponentially after the \nmandates. Restaurants, nobody can eat in a restaurant, there\u2019s no \nscience behind any of that.<\/p><p>Middle seat missing on the airplane, \nyou really think you\u2019re like 12 inches from the other guy instead of six\n inches, it really makes a difference?&nbsp; None of it really makes any \nsense, and there\u2019s no epidemiological evidence. You know, it\u2019s like, \n\u2018Wash your hands, stand six feet apart.\u2019<\/p><p>There\u2019s no evidence that that slowed down the [spread]. \u2026 The\n trajectory of the virus hasn\u2019t been altered at all by any of these \nthings. I think the vaccine will, and this is why I really despise \npeople like the CNN Doctor [Sanjay] Gupta, who I think is committing \ntelevision malpractice by saying,&nbsp;&nbsp;\u2018Oh,\n your mask is a much better thing than the vaccine.\u2019 Well, no, it isn\u2019t.\n The masks aren\u2019t working at all. The thing\u2019s going through the roof and\n people are dying. Why would you want to discourage someone from taking a\n vaccine and say,&nbsp; \u2018Oh wear the mask.\u2019?<\/p><p>And the masks are different, too.&nbsp;The\n N95 mask actually does work to a certain extent, if worn properly and \nused [with] sterile technique. In the hospital, our doctors \u2014 I have a \nbrother and sister who are doctors, they wear the N95 mask, and it\u2019s \nkept them from getting infected \u2014 but there\u2019s no value to the cloth \nmask, at all.&nbsp;<\/p><p>It\u2019s like wearing your underwear. You\n might as well cut your underwear up and wear your underwear as \nprotection. It doesn\u2019t work.&nbsp;<\/p><p>MARLOW: That\u2019s why I call it a face \ndiaper. So you\u2019ve got a public who has accepted this, though, by and \nlarge, because we\u2019ve been told by everyone we have to accept it.&nbsp;Have we lost track of the Constitution? Have we forgotten about the Constitution?<\/p><p>PAUL: Well, that\u2019s why I like this \nyouth group here. What are they asked to give up? They\u2019re being asked to\n give up their graduation from high school, their graduation from \ncollege, their wedding, and if we\u2019re not careful, it\u2019s gonna be their \nfive-year wedding anniversary or their ten-year anniversary.&nbsp;We\u2019re still gonna be wearing masks.<br>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul highlighted Director of the \nNational Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dr. Anthony \nFauci\u2019s ongoing advocacy for mask-wearing as a protective measure for \npublic health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf Fauci has his way, you\u2019ll never \ngive up on the mask,\u201d warned Paul. \u201cIt\u2019s all about submission. They want\n you to submit to their will, whether there\u2019s any science. In fact, like\n on schools, I\u2019ve been telling Fauci for six months, the evidence is \nthat if you open schools, you will not get a surge. The whole world \naccepts it, except for Dr. Fauci. He finally accepted it last week, six months after I started showing him the evidence.\u201d<ins><\/ins><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week, CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/12\/14\/health\/mask-covid-19-safety-vaccine-wellness\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published<\/a>\n an article entitled, \u201cWhy a Covid-19 vaccine doesn\u2019t mean that you can \nstop wearing a mask.\u201d CNN\u2019s top medical reporter, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/interactive\/2020\/health\/coronavirus-questions-answers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">described<\/a>\n the coronavirus as \u201cespecially deadly\u201d while advising people to \u201cdouble\n the usual six feet [of distancing] to 12 feet\u201d in gyms due to \u201cheavy \nbreathing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Democrats and the broader left regularly advocate for continuation \nand expansion of assorted and arbitrary lockdowns and shutdowns against \nbusinesses, religious organizations, and particular political \ndemonstrations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EXCLUSIVE \u2014 Rand Paul: Masks \u2018Are All About Submission\u2019 30,375Robert Kraychik20 Dec 20207,997 4:22 Sen.
