Adamson\n Barbecue owner Adam Skelly, who has been refusing to follow a \nprovincial lockdown order, has been arrested after officials locked him \nout of his restaurant Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skelly had \ntold the Sun that police told him if he messed with the door that had \nits locks changed he would be charged with obstruction of justice. He \nwas taken away in handcuffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toronto Police\n confirm that arrests have been made and officers remain at the scene. \n\u201cWe continue to ask for calm and cooperation,\u201d the force tweeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cops say a second man was arrested for assaulting a police officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor\n John Tory appeared on CNN Thursday morning, making it clear Adamson \nBarbecue will not be serving its slow-cooked beef on this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe won\u2019t be opening today, I can assure you that,\u201d Toronto\u2019s mayor told the American network on that country\u2019s Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not\n long after that quote started to move around Toronto media came word \nthat the city had raided the Queen Elizabeth Boulevard restaurant with \nhired locksmiths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city told reporters on the scene that under order of public health they had changed the locks on the restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skelly\n was joined by a crowd of supporters outside his restaurant. \u201cNeed \nlocksmith & other hands at Etobicoke asap,\u201d he had posted in an Instagram story<\/a> earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On\n Wednesday, he told the Toronto Sun he not only fully intended to open \ntoday but would bring \u201cfive times\u201d the amount of food to serve \neverybody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said this despite receiving nine tickets for various alleged (non criminal code) violations under several jurisdictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skelly\n was ignoring earlier rulings from the province and then a closure order\n from Toronto\u2019s medical officer of health Dr. Eileen De Villa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, a man named Barry McNamar has started a GoFundMe account<\/a> to help Skelly with his legal costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\n don\u2019t know him but I do know that guys like him are in short supply \nduring this overblown COVID nonsense and he deserves our support.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skelly has been a major big thorn in the side of Premier Doug Ford and Mayor John Tory this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\n was nice to the guy yesterday, but buddy, let me tell you something, \nyou\u2019re putting people\u2019s lives in jeopardy,\u201d Ford said Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tory\u2019s\n frustration abut the situation was highlighted in a news release late \nWednesday that said, \u201cNeither Mayor John Tory nor city council direct \nenforcement of any kind,\u201d however, \u201cfollowing (Tuesday\u2019s) confusing \nseries of events, caused in part by the fact the regulations are brand \nnew, the mayor indicated he was dissatisfied with the outcome of the \nAdamson matter, asked repeated questions, and was assured at this \nmorning\u2019s COVID-19 Strategic Command Table meeting that there was \nalignment and that the various authorities were ready for an anticipated\n repeat opening.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
