The reason for his arrest is not yet clear but he was arrested while live-streaming on YouTube from his own home. The arrest of Dr. Andreas Noack \noccurred after the passage of the \u2018Infection Protection Law\u2019 which was \nprotested heavily by vast sections of the German population. The \narrested doctor was supposedly providing medical assistance to \nanti-lockdown protesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to reports<\/a>,\n \u201cThe reasons for the police raid and arrest \u2026 have not yet been \nofficially revealed. However, there are rumors [unconfirmed reports] \nthat Dr. Andreas Noack provided medical assistance to hundreds of \nprotestors during lockdown protests against the German government.\u201d \nReportedly, Dr. Andreas Noack was under investigation for \u201cbeing \nnon-compliant with the COVID-19 lockdown laws enacted by the German \ngovernment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The \u2018Infection Protection Law\u2019 has drawn a lot of flak<\/a>\n and has been compared by some to the Nazi era Enabling Act. Like the \nlaw that was passed in 1933, the recently passed law also confers \ncertain legislative powers to the government, which hitherto rested only\n with the Legislature, that is, the Parliament. The newly passed law rectifies that problem \nfor the German government. Furthermore, as per provisions<\/a>\n of the law, an infected person or a person suspected to be suffering \nfrom the infection can be ordered to refrain from practicing certain \nprofessions. It also provides for quarantines and curfews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thus, the law would permit<\/a>\n the government to legally enforce lockdowns which could entail the \nshutting down of shops and impose restrictions on social contact, rules \nfor mandatory masks, the stoppage of sporting events and other such \nmeasures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
