WINDSOR, ONT. — \n\tBilled as the \u201cGreat Ouellette Avenue Demonstration,\u201d another rally against COVID-19 protocols took place Sunday in Windsor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tThe list includes issues lockdowns, shutdowns, and mandatory masking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\u201cThey\u2019re not necessary. They\u2019re over the top,\u201d says Currie Souillere, co-organizer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tHundreds of people gathered at the foot of Ouellette Avenue, calling \nout health officials and political figures for their handling of the \nCOVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\u201cThis is about control, this is about destroying your freedom, your spirit, your humanity,\u201d Kitty Kay told the crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tAccording to Soulliere, the lockdown has been disastrous for the \neconomy, and questions the use of masks or face shields to slow down the\n spread of coronavirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\u201cI think it says that a lot of people are really concerned with these \nissues and people are curious and want to learn more,\u201d Soulliere tells \nCTV Windsor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tLast Friday, medical officer of health with the Windsor Essex County \nHealth Unit Dr. Wajid Ahmed cautioned the public about taking part in \nthe protest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s events like these, that\u2019s what puts everyone at risk,\u201d Dr. Wajid said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\tAhmed says the risk to the community increases when such protests take \nplace and can create confusion and chaos among the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\u201cThey are lying, they are misquoting any of those information and they \ndo not have any ability to understand it but they pretend,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
