In the Green Party, Support for Israel is Required<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Green\nParty<\/strong> four-time candidate Monika Schaefer<\/strong> says that she learned\nthat, at its core, the Green Party<\/strong> is green on the outside and red on\nthe inside. Well, if not red, at least stridently Zionist. Recently, the Green\nParty<\/strong> elected a new leader to replace Elizabeth May<\/strong>, who, it must be\nremembered, refused to even answer pleas for her to help her former colleague\n political prisoner Monika Schaefer<\/strong>, when she was jailed for 10\nmonths in 2016 for a video she had posted (“Sorry, Mom, I Was Wrong\nAbout the Holocaust<\/strong>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nGreens, like  their leftist counterparts in the NDP<\/strong>, seem unable to\nresist the lure of “diversity”. The NDP<\/strong> chose Turban Guy, Jagmeet\nSingh<\/strong>, a media favourite, who promptly lost half their seats in the 2019\nelection. Much of the party’s base wasn’t so keen on this\n“diversity”. Now, the Greens have chosen a Toronto Black Jewish\nlawyer, Annamie Paul<\/strong>. She came first of eight candidates. Close runner\nup was Dimitri Lascaris<\/strong> of Montreal, who describes himself as an\n“eco-socialist”. However, it’s not the degree of state intervention\nthat can get you kicked out of the Green Party<\/strong>: It’s your commitment to\nsupporting a foreign state.  Lascaris was kicked out of the party\nleadership for a while because of his views on Israel and, according to\n outgoing leader, Elizabeth May<\/strong> and incoming Zionist Annamie\nPaul<\/strong>, Lascaris should be kicked out of the party. The National Post<\/strong>\n(October 3, 2020) reports: “At the beginning of the race, frontrunner\nLascaris\u2019 candidacy was rejected by the party\u2019s vetting committee in late May\ndue to ‘public statements on a number of issues’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though the party\u2019s Leadership\nContest Authority<\/strong> did not detail the issues, Lascaris was widely criticized\nfor an ‘anti-Semitic’ tweet in 2018 accusing two Jewish Liberal MPs of being\nmore loyal to Israel than their own country.” [How is that anti-Semitic,\nif it happens to be true?] Though race frontrunners Paul and Lascaris agree on\nmany policy decisions, their views on Israel differ strongly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the party\u2019s convention in 2016,\nLascaris successfully moved the resolution to support the \u201cBoycott, Divest, and\nSanction\u201d movement \u2014 colloquially known as BDS<\/strong> \u2014 against Israel.\nDuring her time as leader, May never seemingly officially abided by that\nresolution.” [So much for party grassroots democracy! Far from\n“telling truth to power”, Elizabeth May was just another party leader\ndictator like the Big Three.]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In separate interviews with Global\nNews<\/strong> published this week, both May and Paul said they thought Lascaris\nshould have disqualified him from the race. ‘There is no question that the Green\nParty<\/strong> has work to do in addressing racism, anti-Semitism, systemic\ndiscrimination in all its forms,’ Paul told Global News<\/strong>. ‘My view and\nthe party\u2019s views are solid on this: to the extent that anyone who is\nrunning for the leadership of the Green Party of Canada<\/strong> and who has\nexpressed anti-Semitic views, they shouldn\u2019t have been allowed to run,’ May\nadded.” [And “anti-Semitic” is criticism of Israel!]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
