As Torba wrote on Twitter, the free \nspeech social media platform recently submitted a complaint to the DOJ \nwhich it hopes will spark an investigation into the business practices \nof the Masters of the Universe in Silicon Valley. Gab aimed to question \nif these firms were acting in a deliberately anti-competitive manner \nagainst smaller \u201calt-tech\u201d businesses, and Apple\u2019s recent actions may \nhave proven Gab\u2019s point.<ins><\/ins><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><iframe width=\"480\" height=\"320\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Gab.com Twitter page made a number of tweets explaining the company\u2019s viewpoint, these can be seen below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>BREAKING: Gab&#8217;s attorneys have submitted a \ncomplaint to the Department of Justice in hopes of sparking a serious \ninvestigation into Big Tech&#8217;s business practices to determine if, and \nhow, they are behaving in a deliberately anti-competitive manner against\n alt-tech businesses.<\/p><p>\u2014 Gab.com (@getongab) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/getongab\/status\/1136455652652519424?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">June 6, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>It\u2019s not just us. In particular the duopoly on \nmobile app distribution that Apple\/Google have with 98% marketshare.<\/p><p>\u2014 Gab.com (@getongab) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/getongab\/status\/1136707609698770944?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">June 6, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Shortly after this thread of tweets, Gab found that its new Dissenter\n Web Browser had been rejected from Apple\u2019s app store. Apple also chose \nto ban the firm\u2019s developer account entirely, citing \u201cobjectionable \ncontent,\u201d as the reason. Gab\u2019s Dissenter browser is a web browser that \nonly delivers content that users purposefully visited, like Google \nChrome or Apple\u2019s Safari browser, yet Apple believes that the app falls \nunder it\u2019s \u201cobjectionable content\u201d label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>BREAKING: Gab\u2019s Dissenter Web Browser was \nrejected by Apple today. Furthermore, we were banned from our App Store \ndeveloper account for \u201cobjectionable content.\u201d For a web browser.<\/p><p>We have filed this information with the Department of Justice and urge them to investigate. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/raw8u3cgX2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pic.twitter.com\/raw8u3cgX2<\/a><\/p><p>\u2014 Gab.com (@getongab) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/getongab\/status\/1138140912331173890?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">June 10, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><ins><\/ins><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gab CEO Andrew Torba told Breitbart News that Apple admitted that the\n app itself did not break the company\u2019s terms of service but rather they\n were banning it because it was built by Gab. The company has since \nreported this additional info to the Department of Justice. In a \nstatement, Torba told Breitbart News:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>Coordinated deplatforming, when done in such a way as to \nlimit competition in the free market, is illegal. Based on our \nexperience, we believe Silicon Valley companies are colluding to exclude\n challengers to existing social media companies.&nbsp;Big Tech understands \nthat curated walled gardens lose their vibrancy and fail, much as \nCompuserve and AOL failed.<\/p><p>Gab is focused on giving The People back their digital sovereignty. \nWe are no longer simply building a free speech social network. We are \nbuilding the free speech internet. Our free speech web browser, \nDissenter, is only the beginning.
