Derek Sloan Pledges to Repeal the Compelled Speech Bill C-16 — “Zee” and “Zir” Gender Identity Law<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The one way to beat Justin Trudeau is to offer Canadians a real,\nclear alternative to Liberal policy in the next election. Not just\na \u201cLiberal Lite\u201d version of what Trudeau already offers, but a genuine\ndifference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am the one CPC leadership candidate who offers a real\ndifference, and one example of this is the fact that I am the only\ncandidate actively campaigning to repeal Bill C-16. I am the only\ncandidate who has pledged to make repealing this atrocious piece of\ncompelled speech legislation part of our election\nplatform.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2017, the Canadian Parliament passed C-16, the Liberal\ngovernment\u2019s legislation that added \u201cgender identity or expression\u201d to\ngrounds of discrimination in the Canadian Human Rights Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concept of human rights, when first conceived, was intended to\nliberate people and safeguard them from arrest, censorship, and\nharassment by government overreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, we are in the midst of a culture war, and\n\u201chuman rights\u201d have been weaponized to champion leftist \u201csocial\njustice\u201d values and punish all those who dare to disagree with their\nview of the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

C-16 is a prime example of this phenomenon. It gives those who call\nthemselves transgendered and non-gendered the ability to dictate what\nothers can and cannot say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forced speech is the most extreme infringement of free speech. It\nputs words in the mouths of Canadians and threatens to punish them if\nthey don\u2019t comply. Forced speech will force Canadians to say things\nthey disagree with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protection from discrimination is not the same thing as\nwanting not to be offended. If we allow it to, this chronic political\ncorrectness will strangle free speech in Canada.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ll repeal C-16 because it restricts free speech, enshrines\nradical gender ideology into Canadian law, and severely infringes on\nwomen\u2019s sex-based rights to private spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Liberals will attack me for this. Justin Trudeau will spew\nwords like \u201ctransphobia\u201d and \u201cbigotry\u201d, which are designed to shut\ndown the debate. When he does, we\u2019ll push back. Compelled speech is\nthe opposite of the elemental Canadian right of free speech. Further,\nCanadian women shouldn\u2019t have their safety threatened by any man who\ndemands access to sex-segregated spaces just because he claims to\n\u201cfeel like he is a woman\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ll keep telling the truth about C-16, and I won’t back\ndown.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My fellow candidates don\u2019t share my views. Peter MacKay and Erin\nO\u2019Toole are fine with C-16 \u2013 they boast about their support for it.\nLeslyn Lewis claims to oppose it, and I believe her, but she has not\nmade her opposition to C-16 a campaign issue the way that I have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sadly, the \u201cLiberal Lite\u201d element in our party will never\nrecognize this threat to the freedom that Canada was built on, and\nthey will never fight for the repeal of C-16.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They will never be able to appeal to Canadian voters who are tired\nof Liberal assaults on freedom because they don\u2019t offer anything\ndifferent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By actively campaigning to repealing Bill C-16, I offer\na clear difference.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That difference makes me the only candidate who can defeat Justin\nTrudeau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
