We\u2019re suing the\ncops!<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The York Regional Police\nService to be precise<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And we need your help, folks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may recall what happened to me last month in Vaughan, Ontario\nwhen I had the temerity<\/em> to practice journalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You see, I was trying to put my questions to ex-Coach\u2019s Corner\nsidekick Ron MacLean at a taping of Rogers Hometown\nHockey<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

News had just broken that Hockey Night In Canada\u2019s<\/em> ratings\nhad plummeted since the unceremonious axing of Don Cherry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But when I tried to ask Mr MacLean questions on a public street,\nseveral York Regional Police officers responded with violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was pushed, shoved, put in a bear\nhug\u2026 <\/strong>And my crime was practising journalism in\nthe public square? Seriously.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What those cops did was against the law, contrary to my Charter\nRights, and even in violation of a recent Supreme Court of Canada\ndecision that prohibits the police from acting this way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But as I said, we\u2019re fighting\nback<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have just served the York\nRegional Police Service with a lawsuit<\/strong>. You can see\nthe full lawsuit by visiting<\/strong> StandWithDavid.ca<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, we\u2019re definitely not<\/em> anti-cop here at Rebel News.\nQuite the contrary, in fact. But these were cops behaving badly \u2014 and\nwe have to take a stand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police officers are sworn to uphold the law. But not even agents of\nlaw enforcement are entitled to break it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, we are standing up for ourselves and other law-abiding\njournalists and citizens with this claim. And we really need your\nhelp, folks. You see, this is not about the money, but rather, the\nprinciple. Yet it is going to cost us tens of thousands of dollars to\nenact justice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
