Williams explains that \ninstitutions of higher education have started budgeting for \u201cdiversity \nand equity personnel\u201d to accommodate the modern-day college student. The\n idea, Williams says, is to protect \u201cvulnerable\u201d groups of students from\n \u201chate speech\u201d and \u201cmicroaggressions,\u201d noting that they have even gone \nas far as creating speech codes and bias-response teams to investigate \ncomplaints. \u201c\u2018Diversity\u2019 is the highest goal of students and professors who openly detest those with whom they disagree&#8221; &nbsp;&nbsp; Tweet This<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But\n Williams also takes issue with the fact that it doesn\u2019t stop there. As \neach of these programs is created, colleges and universities find a \n\u201cneed\u201d for more programs and faculty and therefore more money to fund \nthese initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/campusreform.org\/?ID=14178\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">[RELATED: &nbsp;School gets nearly $1 million from NY state university budget for \u2018diversity\u2019 hires]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diversity programs and staff come at a high price. Williams cites a study by a group called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindingthecampus.org\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Minding the Campus<\/a>,\u201d\n which found that Penn State University\u2019s Office of the Vice Provost for\n Educational Equity employs a total of 66 individual staff members. \u201cThe\n University of Michigan currently employs a diversity staff of 93 \nfull-time diversity administrators, officers, directors, vice provosts, \ndeans, consultants, specialists, investigators, managers, executive \nassistants, administrative assistants, analysts, and coordinators. \nAmherst College, with a student body of 1,800 students employs 19 \ndiversity people,\u201d writes Williams.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Williams, the \nsalaries of the staff match the scale of these new programs, with top \ndiversity staff earning six-figure salaries. This is especially true \nwith schools like the University of Michigan where a quarter of their \ndiversity officers make more than $100,000 annually.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/?ID=11354\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">[Related: Cornell thrusts $60 million at faculty diversity plan.]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Williams cites an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/campus-diversity-bureaucracies-16223.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">article<\/a> by \u201cdiversity\u201d skeptic and lawyer Mark Pulliam, a contributing editor at <em>Law and Liberty<\/em>, in which he discusses \u201cthe campus Diversity Swarm.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n    <em>The radical left will stop at nothing to intimidate conservative students on college campuses. You can help expose them.<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/secure.campusreform.org\/cro-eoacta\/\">Find out more \u00bb<\/a>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Williams claims that \u201cdiversity people&#8221; have created an entire \nsubsect of academia, having \u201cdeveloped their own professional \norganization, the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher \nEducation,\u201d with annual conferences during which they develop \u201cstandards\n for professional practice and a political agenda. He also points to the\n fact that they have created their own academic journal, published by \nthe American Psychological Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/?ID=11809\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">[Related: UMich defends multi-million dollar diversity investment. Outspoken prof doesn&#8217;t buy it.]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\n the article, Pulliam describes \u201cDiversity and inclusion\u201d as \u201cthe latest\n obsession in higher education, and elite schools compete with one \nanother to see who can field the largest and best-paid team of diversity\n bureaucrats (diversocrats).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an article of faith that \n\u2018diversity\u2019 originally a euphemism for affirmative action, somehow \nenhances the educational environment, but data supporting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Mismatch-Affirmative-Students-%C2%92s-Universities\/dp\/0465029965\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">mismatch theory<\/a>\u2014which\n holds that affirmative action hurts minority students by placing them \nin academic programs for which they are unqualified\u2014refute this claim,\u201d \nwrites Pulliam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Williams sees this as a vicious cycle, saying \n\u201c\u2018Diversity\u2019 is the highest goal of students and professors who openly \ndetest those with whom they disagree.
