\nGrapes, You are an Inspiration to us All!\n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n\nIt was greatly to my disgust that I learned, yesterday, that Sportsnet \nhad fired the legendary Canadian institution, Don Cherry, over remarks \nhe made on Coach’s Corner this past weekend. Here is what he said on \nSaturday:

\u201cYou know, I was talking to a veteran. I said \u2018I\u2019m not going to run \nthe poppy thing anymore because what\u2019s the sense? I live in Mississauga,\n nobody wears \u2014 very few people wear a poppy. Downtown Toronto, forget \nit! Downtown Toronto, nobody wears a poppy.\u2019

\nHe says, \u2018Wait a minute, how about running it for the people that buy them?\u2019
\n
\nNow you go to the small cities, the rows on rows.
\n
\nYou people love \u2014 that come here, whatever it is \u2014 you love our way of \nlife, you love our milk and honey. At least you could pay a couple of \nbucks for a poppy. These guys paid for your way of life, the life you \nenjoy in Canada. These guys paid the biggest price.
\n
\nAnyhow, I\u2019m going to run it again for you great people and good Canadians that bought a poppy.\u201d<\/em>

\nThere is absolutely nothing wrong with that, it needed to be said, and kudos to Grapes for saying it.

\nOf course, the lily-livered whiners, the woke snowflake mob, got all \ntriggered by the words “you people” and started throwing conniptions. \n(See the opening scenes of the 2000 Farrelly Brothers film Me, Myself and Irene<\/em>\n staring Jim Carrey and Renee Zellweger for a hilarious satire of those \nwho read all sorts of ridiculous things into just this phrase).

\nFor a day and a half these modern day Salomes were all over the social \nmedia demanding that Don Cherry’s head be given them on a platter. \nCorrupt mainstream media outlets, such as the CBC which for decades \ncarried Hockey Night in Canada in which Coach’s Corner was featured, \nprovided them an additional platform to make these demands. Finally, \non Remembrance Day, the sniveling scoundrels at Sportsnet, issued a \nstatement about how Cherry’s patriotic call to respect and honour our \nveterans was “divisive remarks that do not represent our values or what \nwe stand for” and so he would no longer be appearing on their program.

\nIn an interview with Joe Warmington, Cherry said that this was not a \nproblem and that “I know what I said and I meant it. Everybody in \nCanada should wear a poppy to honour our fallen soldiers.”

\nAmen.

\nThis is exactly how everybody ought to respond when some politically \ncorrect mob takes offence at his words and calls them “racist”, “sexist”\n or some other of the growing list of -ists and -phobics. If there \nwere more of these refusals to grovel and apologize, there would be a \nlot less of these politically correct mobs.

\nDon Cherry is an inspiration to all of us who are sick and tired of \nwokeness, political correctness, cancel culture and all the rest of that\n nonsense.
