He&#8217;d been playing accordion since his teen years. His iconic Die Gedanken sind Frei (&#8220;Thoughts Are Free&#8221;) was a standby at CAFE meetings. Dieter Heinrich Kahl was 80. He was born in Bremen, Germany on October 24, 1939. He worked for five years in South Africa and came to Canada in 1969.
