And I\u2019m just so sure that\u2019s not true.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-bind=\"text: $data\">This is not the first time a Google employee has charged them with having a left-wing bias.<\/p>\n<p data-bind=\"text: $data\">Last year, James Damore was fired for an internal document he authored trying to explain why there were less women in tech after the company was looking for feedback.<\/p>\n<p data-bind=\"text: $data\">He then started legal proceedings against the company claiming it has \u201cleft biases\u201d and is \u201calienating conservatives\u201d by using \u201cdiscriminatory practices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-bind=\"text: $data\">Shortly after Coppola came forward at the end of July, another Google employee fired in 2018 told Wall Street Journal he was let go for what he claims was advocating for conservative employees he says were bullied.<\/p>\n<p data-bind=\"text: $data\">Google told The Hill he was fired for \u201cmisusing company equipment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-bind=\"text: $data\">Other critics have found biases in its search engine through their research.<\/p>\n<p data-bind=\"text: $data\">Last year, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg told Congress Silicon Valley is \u201can extremely left-leaning place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-bind=\"text: $data\">In mid-july, U.S. President Trump held a social media summit in which he accused the tech giants of censoring conservatives.<\/p>\n<p data-bind=\"text: $data\">In Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called for more censorship of \u201chate speech\u201d and \u201cmisinformation\u201d through the introduction of a digital charter.<\/p>\n<p data-bind=\"text: $data\">The Liberal government has close ties to top Canadian execs at the big tech companies, including Google.<\/p>\n<p data-bind=\"text: $data\">As the 2019 federal election kicks off in mere weeks, the role big tech plays in the flow of information to everyday Canadians looms large.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Silenced by Google?
