Nadal, a molecular biologist and microbiologist who is also president and CEO of the Coalition on Abortion\/Breast Cancer, responds to media coverage of what was at the time the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\u2019s new annual report on STDs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/blogs\/why-hiv-syphilis-and-gonorrhea-are-rising-among-homosexuals\">Why HIV, syphilis, and gonorrhea are rising among homosexuals<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Contrary to the consensus that the \u201creason for the documented continued rise in syphilis (primarily affecting homosexuals) has more to do with homophobia than anything else,\u201d Dr. Nadal attributes the rise to factor such as an \u201cupward trend in unprotected sex\u201d and 60% of homosexual men failing to disclose their symptoms or status to sex partners.<\/p>\n<p>He cited data from mainstream sources such as the CDC, a then-recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/11\/28\/health\/unprotected-sex-among-gay-men-on-the-rise-health-officials-say.html?_r=0\"><em>New York Times<\/em> report<\/a>, and a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC2567832\/\">2006 study<\/a> in the journal <em>AIDS Behavior<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>On October 18, 2018, however, LifeSiteNews received the following message, notifying staff that Twitter was locking the account because the 2014 tweet sharing the story\u2019s neutral, factual headline violated \u201cour rules against hateful conduct,\u201d and somehow \u201cpromote[d] violence against, threaten[ed], or harass[ed] other people on the basis of [&#8230;] sexual orientation [&#8230;], or\u00a0serious disease.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"article-image full-width\" data-location=\"7\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/images\/made\/images\/remote\/https_s3.amazonaws.com\/lifesite\/TwitterLockedLifeSite_645_760_75.jpg\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>No further elaboration was given. A length of time for the lockout was not specified. The only recourse offered was for LifeSite to remove the tweet or start an appeal process. For the moment, LifeSite staff cannot post to or otherwise operate <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LifeSite\">@LifeSite<\/a> in any way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis total intolerance for even reporting government health dept statistics that reveal the health dangers of homosexual activity betrays what Peter Thiel, himself a homosexual, previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/silicon-valley-is-a-totalitarian-place-dominated-by-ideology-tech-billionai\">called a totalitarian mindset<\/a> in Silicon Valley,\u201d said Steve Jalsevac, co-founder and president of LifeSiteNews.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwitter is now trying to force news agencies to report only what is acceptable to their personal, biased views and shutting down balanced, factual reporting on the homosexual issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is getting dangerous for our democracy since a free press is one of the basic and necessary foundations for a genuinely democratic society,\u201d Jalsevac warned. \u201cThis is getting scary.
