Monika Schaefer Protests Secrecy & \u00a0Shunning by Yellowhead Festival & Attack on Her Livelihood<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Dear Board members of the Yellowhead Regional Arts Festival Society,<\/span><\/p>\n

Your\u00a0action of declaring me “not the correct fit” for your\u00a0September 29th<\/span><\/span>\u00a0event goes much further\u00a0than just a single one-time event. You have done something very consequential.\u00a0You are affecting my livelihood and my reputation.\u00a0You are signalling to the wider community\u00a0that I am dangerous and\u00a0untouchable,\u00a0and\u00a0you are signalling to current and potential\u00a0students that Monika Schaefer\u00a0should be avoided.\u00a0You have\u00a0also\u00a0subverted your society’s role as a cultural organization to that of a thought-policing agency.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you think you can do this from a position of anonymity and zero accountability, with all due respect, that is simply not the way it works. Hiding behind a cloak of anonymity\u00a0while\u00a0taking this serious action is completely unethical and arguably illegal. The board of a Society must, by definition, be open, transparent and accountable to the public. By your\u00a0nameless\u00a0signing-off as a generic board, you demonstrate a profound\u00a0contempt for civil\u00a0society.\u00a0If board-member names are kept secret, then it is not unreasonable for the public to assume that decisions can be\u00a0dictated by just one person, and in this case someone who has\u00a0a vendetta against me because they don’t like my thoughts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is impossible to know if letters sent to your generic society email address are reaching all the board members. I have been on copy from many\u00a0concerned\u00a0people who\u00a0have sent letters to you in\u00a0which they\u00a0genuinely support my right to free speech, and they profoundly disagree with your misguided actions. I wonder if those letters are\u00a0being disseminated to all board members, or are they being\u00a0seen by only one person, possibly\u00a0the person(s) who has strong-armed the rest of the board into taking\u00a0this drastic action against me.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It has also\u00a0come to my attention, through\u00a0the grapevine, that you have been receiving some threatening and vile letters from people who\u00a0pose<\/b><\/i>\u00a0as my “supporters”. I have been told that this is now\u00a0your\u00a0reason for not disclosing the names of board members, allegedly because there is concern\u00a0for their safety. It is certainly not the original reason for hiding your identities, because that would have meant you had the\u00a0power to predict the future.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

In my truth-seeking quest, I have learnt many things about the tactics used by those who endeavour to shut down\u00a0open discussion, investigation and disclosure of any nonconformist information\u00a0about\u00a0what may or may not have\u00a0happened during WW2\u00a0. There are many methods being employed to destroy, defame, and shun those who try to point out the inconsistencies in the victors’ version of history.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

If it is true that you have received threatening letters, then you need to know that those letters are unequivocally\u00a0NOT<\/b>\u00a0coming from my “supporters”. That is a\u00a0deliberate\u00a0tactic, a psychological warfare tactic, to smear me by association. Those letters are coming from people who\u00a0are actively engaged in “shooting the messenger” and thereby undermining and distracting away from the message. They are agents of deception.\u00a0I have now seen this numerous times, whereby people exclaim to me\u00a0“<\/i><\/b>your supporters<\/b><\/i>\u00a0have threatened me!”<\/i>\u00a0or\u00a0“<\/i><\/b>your supporters<\/b><\/i>\u00a0have sent profanities!”<\/i>\u00a0or other similar statements. Who are those people sending vile\u00a0messages, and why do they not also send those letters to me? They are definitively NOT supporters of me, my message, or of truth or decency.<\/span><\/p>\n

By subverting the YRAF\u00a0Society’s role as a cultural organization to that of a thought-policing agency,\u00a0you are directly\u00a0responsible for the messy situation\u00a0you find yourselves in now.\u00a0This is not of my making.<\/span><\/p>\n

You have taken a drastic action against me without having the courtesy (or the courage?)\u00a0to talk to me face to face.\u00a0I am now\u00a0calling for a fair and open hearing in front of your board. I am asking to attend your next board meeting (or please call a special meeting),\u00a0so that we may have a frank\u00a0discussion about these matters. I am eager and\u00a0willing to answer any questions you have, and to address your concerns.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
