Oh please Mr Trudeau, just do it, don\u2019t insult us with your rationalizations about how the Charter protects us all \u201cEVEN WHEN IT\u2019S UNCOMFORTABLE\u201d. \u00a0That wonderful charter you speak about didn\u2019t protect Ernst Zundel back in the days when a powerful lobby (more powerful than our charter) wanted his head or Brad Love jailed on many occasions for writing letters to our privileged politicians or James Sears who puts out a satirical newspaper, loved by many but hated by the powerful few who can lobby the Government to\u00a0have his postal rights taken away. \u00a0The charter didn\u2019t work for them, nor has it helped the many many, many more Canadians who who have lost jobs and been pauperized for simply disagreeing with the party line. \u00a0Your smiley face may impress many but hypocrisy is an ugly thing. — Lynda Mortl<\/strong><\/div>\n

Prime Minister Justin\u00a0Trudeau\u00a0says the Charter of Rights and Freedoms protects all Canadians\u00a0“even when it is uncomfortable,” responding to a question\u00a0about his government’s apology and controversial payout to former Guantanamo Bay prisoner Omar Khadr.<\/p>\n

“The Charter of Rights and Freedoms protects all Canadians, every one of us, even when it is uncomfortable. This is not about the details or merits of the Khadr case. When the government violates any Canadian’s Charter rights we all end up paying for it,” he told reporters in\u00a0Hamburg,\u00a0where he’s wrapping up the G20 summit.<\/p>\n
