Dear friend of freedom,Four years on from the Freedom Convoy, Chris Barber\u2019s fight for justice continues. In 2022, Chris was fearless in challenging the federal vaccine mandates and Covid restrictions that were impacting millions of Canadians.Chris had received the Covid vaccine, but that did not stop him from standing up for the right of all Canadians to make their own healthcare decisions and to not be locked in their own homes by the state. Police arrested and charged Chris on February 17, 2022. After the longest criminal mischief trial in Canadian history, Chris was convicted of mischief and counselling others to disobey a court order. Incredibly, while the judge stated that Chris \u201ccame with the noblest of intent and did not advocate for violence,\u201d the judge still sentenced him to an 18-month conditional sentence including house arrest for 12 months and 100 hours of community service.<\/td><\/tr>

Chris Barber is appealing his conviction<\/strong>\u201cI travelled to Ottawa in good faith, followed the directions I was given, and cooperated fully with police at every step,\u201d Chris said. \u201cI did nothing unlawful, and I am appealing to clear my name and defend the right of Canadians to speak and protest peacefully.\u201d Right now, lawyers funded by the Justice Centre are preparing written arguments explaining why his conviction and sentence should be overturned. These arguments must be filed with the court shortly. This step will cost many thousands of dollars to fund, and we need your help to do it. <\/strong>If Chris\u2019s lawyers are successful, his conviction will be overturned. For Chris, the fight for freedom did not end when the trucks left Ottawa. It has been going on for years. And it’s not over yet.<\/td><\/tr>

Chris did not go to Ottawa to commit a crime<\/strong><\/td><\/tr>
