As of June 10, 2026, TPL lists 41 Pride, drag, and gender-identity events for Preschool Children aged 0 to 5:

Drag Bingo, Drag Story Time with Messy Margaret, Fay and Fluffy’s Storytime, and a Library Pride Parade for babies as young as zero.

Another 29 events target children aged 6 to 12.

These listings were not compiled by outside critics; they were categorized by library staff in the library’s searchable database using the library’s age categories.

The performers behind these events have been remarkably candid about their purpose. Messy Margaret told a Toronto newspaper last year that his mission at these library storytimes is to ensure children know becoming a drag queen is an option for them, because he believes at least one child in every room will grow up to question their sexuality, and he wants to make sure that child sees drag as a path. Fay and Fluffy’s own published mission makes the same agenda explicit: their storytime targets what they call “gender-variant children.”

These are not neutral performers who happen to read picture books; they are activists with a stated goal, and TPL has been handing them a publicly funded platform to pursue it since at least 2017.

A child of two cannot weigh adult identity messaging.

Libraries already separate children’s, teen, and adult content in every other programming context, and there is no reason that standard should not apply here. The case for pulling these events is straightforward: publicly funded children’s programming should not be a platform for performers who have openly declared their goal is to indoctrinate children into their own sexually explicit lifestyles.

The accountability runs deeper than it might appear.

Two of the ten people on the TPL Board are not library appointees; they are elected city councillors. Deputy Mayor Paul Ainslie and Deputy Mayor Amber Morley sit on this Board as sitting members of City Council, answerable to ward voters, and this October every seat on Toronto City Council is up for re-election.

A Board member who also holds elected office has every reason to want this resolved before it becomes a ballot question, and a petition with thousands of names is exactly the kind of constituent signal that does not get quietly filed away.

The programming runs through June and July.

Once these events pass off the calendar, the window for pressure closes.

Sign this petition now and tell Chair Alim Remtulla, Vice-Chair Jonathan Hoss, Sakariya Ahmed, Deputy Mayor Paul Ainslie, Tamara Balan, Serda Evren, Ben Liu, Amina Mohamed, Deputy Mayor Amber Morley, and Soo Wong to remove all Pride, drag, and gender-identity programming from Toronto Public Libraries.

Sources:

TPL 2SLGBTQ+ events filtered for Preschool Children (0-5)

‘What we’re doing is important’: How this Toronto drag performer finds purpose in storytime – TorontoToday.ca

Fay & Fluffy’s Storytime: Reading is FUNdamental – The 519

CitizenGO previous campaign — Messy Margaret at TPL

CitizenGO previous campaign — Toronto Public Library: Cancel Drag Storytime and Protect Our Children

Protect Children: Remove Pride and Gender Events from Our Libraries CitizenGO – started this petition to Toronto Public Library Board: Alim Remtulla (Chair), Jonathan Hoss (Vice Chair), Sakariya Ahmed, Deputy Mayors Paul Ainslie & Amber Morley, Tamara Balan, Serda Evren, … Continue reading →

[1
4845,6360,1036
