OTTAWA, Ontario (LifeSiteNews<\/a>) \u2014 A Canadian so-called \u201canti-hate network\u201d is allegedly out of federal funding for the first time in six years, following complaints by pro-life MPs and groups that it exhibited anti-Catholic bias and spread \u201cpolarization.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n As noted by Blacklock\u2019s Reporter<\/a>, the activist group known as the Canadian Anti-Hate Network (CAHN) is out of grants from Canada\u2019s Heritage Department, following multiple complaints of \u201cbias and anti-Catholic messages,\u201d which say that it was \u201cspurring greater polarization.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to Access To Information records, CAHN, which gets hundreds of thousands in taxpayer funding each year, saw its funding cut after it was questioned by MPs, notably, pro-life Conservative Party Member of Parliament (MP) Rachael Thomas, about its bias in going after Catholics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe have an active multi-year agreement where the three years have been paid so far, leaving only a small amount still on hold pending final reports. Allegations are about spreading hate regarding religion and beliefs and further polarization,\u201d reads a Heritage Department memo from 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thomas has many times called out the Liberal government\u2019s funding of CAHN for years, notably after<\/a> the group celebrated the killing of Charlie Kirk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n CAHN has a history of going afte<\/a>r both Campaign Life Coalition (CLC) and LifeSiteNews, with \u201cmisinformation\u201d that it has previously been forced<\/a> to retract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n CLC welcomed the news that CAHN is out of funding for the first time in six years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis is welcome news. For years, Canadians have been forced to subsidize an activist organization that has helped fuel suspicion and hostility toward Christians, pro-lifers, and other peaceful citizens,\u201d wrote<\/a> CLC in an X post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDefunding CAHN is a step in the right direction. Now Canadians deserve full transparency about why the Liberal Government funded CAHN in the first place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n subscribe to our daily headlines<\/p>\n\n\n\n CLC\u2019s Communications Director Pete Baklinski recently noted, in a Western Standard report<\/a>, that \u201cCanada does not need taxpayer-funded blacklist politics\u201d from groups like CAHN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt does not need government-backed ideological policing. And it certainly does not need public money flowing to organizations whose materials portray Christian, pro-life advocates, who are law-abiding citizens, as part of the \u2018far right.’\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n In an X post,<\/a> Baklinski noted how CAHN \u201ctargeted\u201d CLC for the \u201cwork we do defending preborn babies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe organization claims to combat hate, but in our experience, it directed toward us the very thing it claims to oppose,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOrganizations that target peaceful Christian citizens for exercising their democratic rights in defence of life should never receive one cent of taxpayer money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite federal funding appearing to be cut to it for now, as reported by<\/a> LifeSiteNews, the leader of CAHN, Bernie Farber, was recently named to the government\u2019s \u201cExpert Advisory Group on Online Safety.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Years ago, Farber made media headlines<\/a> for falsely posting a photo on X of an anti-Semitic flyer that he claimed was found \u201cin plain sight\u201d during Ottawa\u2019s Freedom Convoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite this, Farber was appointed<\/a> to the original 2022 \u201cexpert advisory group on online safety\u201d by former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau\u2019s Liberal government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n CAHN has been known to work with the notorious<\/a>, far-left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in the United States and received money from the Canadian government in 2020 as part of an \u201cinclusion\u201d grant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" HAS TAXPAYER FUNDING FOR THE PERNICIOUS CANADIAN ANTI-HATE NETWORK CAHN) RUN OUT?
